Some of you may know but I am neutral on this proposed change and can see changing it or leaving the rules the way they are.

I understand quite well the pain of restarting a run and having to do the intro level again, usually before I had a good run going I would have to restart 3-5 times within the first two chapters of the game and I am pretty sure that I could play the into blindfolded and not get hit. Dropping the level would save time and tedium and restarts would be much faster by loading a save file that met the requirements AceKrana has proposed.

On the other hand it is part of the game and is playable, it is also not a set time and can be manipulated; the ending time for the level on the Switch can vary up to 5 seconds and on the Wii U (which I don't think anyone plays anymore) can vary up to 20.

The other point of contention is that there are other games being speedrun that have unskippable intros that the runners are forced to see every single reset. A good friend of mine was running Super Mario Sunshine and when she reset the run she was looking at 6 minutes of doing nothing and would go grab a snack. The other night I streamed Mischief Makers and in the back of my head I was thinking "This may be interesting to run someday" and then I got hit with the unskippable intro part. I love the game but I don't think I will be doing that :)

What is everyone else's thoughts on the subject?

Worsel here, just letting everyone know that New Game + has been added to the leaderboards! It can be found under the Miscellaneous tab.

RULES:

The full run must be done on Hard or Infinite Climax.

All weapons, items, and accessories are able to be used.

Amiibo is banned

Timer starts when the Prologue chapter is selected and ends on the final enemy death in the credits. Video is required for submission

Thank you everyone for your patience while we got this all sorted out, I know it has been a while in the making but I can't wait to see the runs!

Okay, seems like we are getting there! Any other views or suggestions on rules? Anyone going to run NG+ if it's approved?

So something like this?

All runs must be on Hard or Infinite Climax Rosa must be used All weapons, items, and accessories are able to be used except for Bracelet of Time Timer starts when the Prologue chapter is selected and ends on the final enemy death in the credits Emulators are banned Video is required for submission

That's great thewestonator89! Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to what the rule set would be for such a category? Would you restrict anything?

Last month a thread was created for this topic which can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/bayonetta2/thread/ugy5u

It was put up in order to gauge interest if there were any runners for the NG+ category and what the rules would be. Unfortunately no one responded to the question asked and the one person who did stated that they were not going to be running the category anyway so it was a moot point.

If you have proposals for what the rules would be for establishing a NG+ category for this game and if you will be submitting a run for it, please head over to the link provided above so we can keep this all in one place so things don't get confusing trying to jump all over the forum.

Yes, as stated it would be best for you to make a video and post it here with your exact strat as has been previously requested.

Maybe something is not being conveyed correctly or is getting lost in translation so to speak, a video will clearly demonstrate what you are trying to communicate and would be greatly appreciated.

Okay everyone, discussion time!

The question is on possibly adding NG+ category to the site and if there will be runners for it.

Having watched A4| Mr.DarkIce's run using Rosa it comes down to maxing out your items before starting the run itself which would take some serious grinding. For example the fastest way to grind the large red's at the start of Chapter 2 you get the chest at the start, run forward to trigger the fight and after it saves back out and repeat the level to get the lollipop again, repeating until full. The rest would be trickier, trying to find a materials box that you can quickly access would be the best. I know that A4| Mr.DarkIce had showed a video where he farms in Chapter 8 but that is a pure RNG nightmare.

You would have to do this on one save file and then copy it so you would not have to keep grinding over and over for each run, but it's still a big time investment. Outside of one person currently is anyone going to seriously run this category. Not a "I am going to totally do it!" and never follow through but a serious "Yes, I will run this category." and commit to it.

The other point to consider would be what would the rules entail. Since it is a NG+ you could have every single item, weapon, and bracelet at your disposal; should anything be banned or restricted? Please leave your thoughts here and remember to keep it civil.

Example: All weapons, items, and accessories are able to be used. All characters can be used. The run can be done on any difficulty setting. Emulators are banned. Timer starts when the Prologue chapter is selected and ends on the final enemy death in the credits. Video is required for submission.

Glitches are bugs in the programming that can be exploited for a run, a cheat code is something that the developers intentionally added in themselves to be used either internally or by others to have "fun".

For the majority of games that are speedrun any type of cheat code inputs are not allowed. While it was intentionally programmed into the game Platinum had to tell everyone almost two years after the game had been out that it was there to begin with and give people the code.

As stated before, if you have a method to get 1.3 million halos in a New Game per completion of the Prologue level please post a video of doing so as this could potentially change how the entire game is run. The idea of a speedrun is to beat the game as quick as possible, of course, if this method ends up taking a ton of time and makes it super slow to the point where it's more of a novelty then that could be the case, but if it's possible to do it and save time it's still worth looking at.

By no means is this discussion closed or decided upon, you brought this up for discussion and asked for a mod to come in and give their opinion on the matter and I have done that, now I ask of you to show us how you are doing this as not only myself but others are curious to what you are exactly doing and we would love to see it in action.

If you can farm up to 1.3 million halos in the Prologue Chapter in a New Game per level run please post a video of doing so ASAP as the community would love to see it.

At this current time I would have to say that it would not be allowed because with current strats used for multiple characters it would take too long to farm the halos. The second reason why is that because while it is in the game you still have to input a cheat code to get the items, Platinum even calls it the "Platinum Code."

I have known about this method of unlocking items in the game since Platinum told everyone about it but it was not feasible to do in a speedrun and since it requires a cheat code it would not be accepted.

If things change however we will be sure to alert the community both here in the forum and on the discord.

In the past when I brought up something similar but with disc vs digital I was told to use the filter tab, it will then split them up by the option chosen.

@Habreno MLSTRM is not against the idea of adding a mod but he does not have the ability to do so. I shall pass along your message.

I am requesting to be added as a mod for Bayonetta 2: https://www.speedrun.com/bayonetta2

There has been a lot of runs submitted due to the Switch version being released and MLSTRM is the only mod verifying runs. I am a mod on the discord and am very active in the community.

The current Super Mod, Flicky, has not submitted a run for the game and is inactive for over 3 months at this point. All runs submitted since I started running the game have been approved by MLSTRM.

Can you make a quick 10 second video or so showing the problem?

스레드: Bayonetta 2

As soon as this category is added I will be submitting my own run, so that's two who will be running it.

스레드: Bayonetta 2

I am also requesting to ban emulated runs at this time as well since CEMU is now able to play the full game. While there are some graphical issues here and there it does load up faster than the digital version.

I have a question about this run. You say that you added in the 3m 45s because you skipped the Records of Time intro level, I presume this is why you let the pole dance credits run was to make up for that time difference because you left the timer running. However from the moment you killed the last enemy on the plane to when your video ends only 3m 33s have elapsed, why is this?

스레드: Bayonetta 2
Pennsylvania, USAWorsel56 years ago

The current rules state to start your timer when you select your difficulty level and end when you kill the last enemy on the plane in the credits, or you can add 3:45 and skip the Records of Time level.

This does not make sense because you are starting from a brand new file and you have to play that level anyway, why exclude it from the timer and recording? 3:45 only applies if you skip the cutscenes perfectly and either get SUPER lucky with the loading on the disc version (time can range from 3:45 to 4:05) or digital which can still have up to a 4 second variance (3:45 to 3:49).

Can we make this change across the board? The one exception would be for a 1st Climax run which I believe would start when you get past the Immortal Marionette option.

100% run of this game would be pretty boring not to mention incredibly long. You would have to do every single fight, get all weapons, umbra tears, and complete all the Muspelheim's as well. Doing the current route for this game is already 2+ hrs, I think doing everything like this would be at least 10 or more.
