Since it's an online-only game and the previous versions are not available, this is an unavoidable issue as far as leaderboards are concerned. As far back as the original category 7 years ago, different updates were lumped together.
Don't take it too seriously and just play to have fun. The exact same game that you're competing in today will not exist in a month. Keep in mind this is a roleplay hangout game on Roblox that was not designed with speedrunning in mind. The leaderboards don't hold all that much integrity it's just here to keep track of times.
If necessary, we can always archive the current category and start a new one.
I have added PVP enabled as a subcategory and manually assigned all presently existing runs to the PVP disabled subcategory. Please feel free to submit to either subcategory moving forward.
The ghost AI is completely different between arcade and plug n play.
If a run is played on the Java release, I see no reason why it shouldn't be added. As for arcade as a subcategory, I think we could just rename the emulator subcategory to arcade. And as far as I can tell, there are no runs on the leaderboard performed on original hardware (the one run I see played off an arcade cabinet is an Arcade 1up Cabinet, which is emulation)
I think they're referring to the version for java-based cellphones
New category is LIVE! Feel free to submit your runs now. Yeah the game is kind of in a wild west state, but people are submitting runs despite a new category not having existed so I think it's better to have SOMETHING available. If anything wacky happens we can fix the leaderboards then.
With the game's complete overhaul making our current leaderboards obsolete, we will be archiving the current catgegory and implementing a new one. I will introduce the new category sometime this week. Please leave ideas in the replies as to what the goal should be. As the book doesn't seem to exist anymore, I'm thinking the run should end upon collecting the final emerald. Please feel free to leave any suggestions in this thread though.
No, but the video cuts off right before you get to the end. Without recorded evidence, we do not know what the final time was, or if the run was even completed. I cannot verify an incomplete recording.
The run was rejected because the video cuts off before the end. If you resubmit with a video including the entire run, I will be able to verify it.
Pac-Man Museum, which includes this game, has been delisted from Steam but surely you could find some other means of obtaining it. You could also probably find this game on any website that hosts arcade roms.
Exiting the game and launching it again is fine as long as the timer keeps going.
It's been a while since I've done a run, but I think I remember restarting the game halfway through to avoid the crash.
I spoke with the original creator of the category, and he had this to say:
"Like the original intent was of the first category was to gather all the chaos emeralds of course and find cool routing to do so. And the book which is only normally reachable with super form seemed like a good finish line Also is why super form is required".
Allowing darkspine would go against the original idea of the category, so it will not be allowed.
If you would like to do a run with darkspine and submit it, I will create a new category for it.
If you do runs for any other categories, I will add them.
Due to the game receiving major updates, I have archived the old category and created a new one.
Sorry about that Fixed: https://discord.gg/WxSbvJA
DS still isn't available to select as a platform though. I've been playing on DS recently as well, so adding the option would be good.
