It's pretty irritating that the "Leaderboards" tab is still a dropdown even when there's only a single leaderboard defined:
Although I feel like it'd still be kind of annoying even if there were other leaderboards, since now you have you'd have to click twice for ILs or category extensions, instead of just once from the sidebar buttons on the previous layout, but even disregarding that it's still silly that it has a dropdown list when there's only one option anyway.
I do appreciate the Recent Runs box though, that's cool. Always annoyed me that there wasn't something like that for individual games but there was for series pages.
It, well, offsets the starting point of the timer. You can use it to provide a delayed start, or make the timer start with time already elapsed.
Nothing in particular got me into speedrunning, at least not that I can remember. Even before I was aware of what speedrunning was, I apparently still had the "go fast" mindset for it, since I grinded time trials in Mario Kart 8 fairly extensively a while back, though I didn't really have any competitive drive, I was pretty much just doing it for my own enjoyment. I became fully aware of speedrunning some time after I became active in the Distance community, and since that game is based on time trials, while also having mechanics that were designed to let you leave the intended path, I just sort of gradually got into more it as I improved at the game and starting doing the skip routes.
I don't really think I can say I've really started doing speedruns yet, though, since Distance is still in beta, but it's something, I guess? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Also on a potentially related note, I've noticed that whenever I'm viewing one of my own runs, my flag is slapped next to my name on the navbar: https://imgur.com/a/vom5L
In other parts of the site, only my name is there, and the flag is nowhere to be found.
Also appears to happen on the IL overview page if I have a top run, though not IL leaderboards themsevles. And when viewing a run done (not just submitted or verified, actually done) by a moderator, or the IL overview where they have top times, that causes the mod's flag to be used instead of their icons on the modlist, and in the case of run pages, the submitted and verified text as well. Something weird's going on with the username printing for those things specifically.
Edit: I've just now noticed this is also happening the home page as well, though it's inconsistent, and refreshing fixes it (which is not the case for any of the other occurrences I mentioned).
Yeah, followed games always show first in the latest runs feed. I was confused by this as well, it's not exactly clear. As far as I can tell there's no option to disable this, besides unfollowing the game.
I know all that. Fullmods are essentially sitewide moderators in a more general sense of the word, so I wasn't completely incorrect, but yeah I'll admit that my explanation was kinda broad.
Other than that, saying regular mods and supermods were limited to certain games was accurate, I just didn't go into much detail regarding the differences between those two specifically as I didn't think it was entirely necessary, though I suppose it would've been a lot more helpful if I did. I was just going for a really short and simple explanation, I guess. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Regular and super mods are limited to specific games or series. Full mods moderate the entire site.
Mostly just curious as to how WB would be officially defined for the filter. Something which a few of the top runners for ILs ingame have been doing is tilting up and gripping after drops or jumps, to increase speed.
Would this count as WB for the filter? Personally, I think it shouldn't, it's not really WB if you don't land on the same surface you started on, though I can understand if would be disallowed since it is essentially the same thing.
While I'm here, might as well ask this too: assuming the Adventure level select remains for adv2.0, would the final timing method just skip the intro entirely, starting on whatever the new first level is? On one hand this makes sense, since there's not really much point playing the intro when you just skip it anyway, but on the other hand I'm not sure skipping intro would get the completion slider to 100% on a blank save, so there is a bit of a case against it.
