Hey ^^ There is an explanation of the skip in depth :)

How to perform T2Skip (Tutorial 2 Skip):

  • You have to unlock rocket & turbo.
  • And then, you have to game over to come back to the castle without having collected the Tutorial 2 Star.

Rocket & Turbo are unlocked on the frame the key is obtained. That means that you have to game over anywhere you are able to after having collected the key.

Also you have to collect a star before going into Bowser 1, otherwise your life count that's originally at the value of 5, will be reset to 5 after each death, therefore making it infinite.

So how I originally found that trick, is by collecting the key in Bowser 1, then going in Tutorial 2 and killing Mario in the first hole you see multiple times, provoking a game-over and warping Mario back to the castle.

But then we noticed that dying in BT1 is faster than dying in Tutorial 2. Because of that we decided to kill Mario 4 times in the void that's on the left of the first Bowser Trap, setting Mario's life count to 0, and then collect the key and kill Mario one last time in Tutorial 2 to make him come back to the castle. You can do it that way, it's easy ^^

But then again, TheMilkGirl47 discovered a way to provoke T2Skip in Bowser 1 by cancelling the key animation that brings Mario to Tutorial 2 but still unlock Rocket & Turbo. That's how we do it in WR speedruns. The best setup that we use to do that works this way: you have to kill Bowser, stand at the position where the key will spawn, and then, when it spawns, hold down and P, which will make Mario duck and make the key disappear, then unpause and hold the inputs necessary to do a backflip (up-right or up-left depending on the direction Mario's facing). This is the fastest method.

Hey, Sekanor here.

So the decision has recently been taken to modify the timinjg methods due to a new glitch that prerequires action from the level designer.

Before, we would time our runs from the Z input that reads the first sign, to the first frame the launch star is being exit on.

Now, we are timing our runs from the press of the start button after the intro loading, to the first frame the credits cutscene starts on.

Start the timer at the same frame you reset the game You can watch existing videos to know when the timing starts and ends

I'd like to point out that I really like this new site design for mobile, I find it really practical and better than the old one that wasn't very good for mobiles imo.

But yeah for PC it just doesn't fit well, everyone already talked about the problems that design has anyway.

I do like the initiative of a new design, though I prefer the old one currently ^^

Yeah, numbers in speedruns are always rounded down also I suggest that .ms should stay for WR runs (and runs that finish on the same second as the WR runs) at least

I do agree with PolObjective, Individual Worlds sounds good, one of the game I moderate works that way and it's pretty cool.

I actually do not see the point to remove them, as I don't see how it would be better if they were removed.

From now on, every Individual Level World Record submission will need a video, otherwise it will not be accepted on the leaderboards.

This rule will not be retroactive, so every WR without video that are currently on the leaderboard will not be removed (though I will add videos for mines).

As for the idea, it seems interesting. Problems are that it is a little arbitrary (timing seconds of turbo would be hell), having a ranking for it would be awfully hard to set up too. It is a good idea though, nice work, improvements can surely be made on this and will probably be done a lot. I imagine that as a fun challenge but as a speedrun category, it's an other question.

If it seems to work as a speedrun category, we will add it at bit.ly/SM63Leaderboard , which is the official leaderboard for special category that do not fit on speedrun.com. Keep working on it ! ^^

That shouldn't be necessary for long because I planned to add every time from mcleodgaming to there It's quite long to do though.
