I almost have a full page and I'm only about 6 minutes into the run. I hope to have it done by June 10th or so. Should I publish what little I've done? or wait till I'm done with it all? Should I continue doing it in semi-paragraph form or in a numbered list?
It's fine, I was stubborn too. It's bad in my opinion as the pause menu and the loading times are part of the game.
You really know your stuff :o The reason I brought up IGT not being reliable is because in a YT vid someone said it wasn't. I also looked at my IGT a while back and it didn't look reliable either. I'll be interested in the results.
I completely agree. This game is similar to the Wii U version though and it has the same mods.
True, however on the Wii U sequel there are long loading times too and they are included in the RTA time.
If your run gets verified, every other run from now on will be timed with IGT (which would not be good in my opinion) or some runs will be deleted or something if timing gets changed to RTA (the more reliable timing).
This is gonna be a long guide.... I've already used up half a page and I'm only 2 minutes in. Any community contributions are welcomed. Please type up stuff for certain parts if you'd like to. I estimate it's gonna take around 40 pages....
Actually, can someone run tests to see if IGT on the 3DS is accurate? For how long it would take look at this: http://www.speedrun.com/Baten_Kaitos_Eternal_Wings_and_the_Lost_Ocean#100
If someone can go nearly 400 hours we can go 10 :P
LCU has an in-game timer, just it isn't completely accurate. It would probably take around 20 hours on LCU, I haven't played the DS version so idk. Just, RTA is more accurate and never fails xD Some games take much longer like animal crossing(50+ hours) so it's definitely doable. If you end up doing IGT then don't use the IGT. Use LiveSplit or something and add up the sessions. I also wouldn't take screenshots as evidence as they could have been tampered with, a 20 hour video is less likely(for a game as little as LCU most people wouldn't take the time to TAS and then fake a 20 hour run).
I thought it was that the time for 100% started when you selected your file to start on and breaks were included in your time? I just found this old post by Niklass:
- You can do breaks (sleeping etc.) but your time/timer will keep running during this time
- In case your PC/Game crashes just continue at your last save and collect everything you did before the crash and the run will obviously not be lost. Just make sure to have everything at the end
- Currently, LCU is being timed in RTA, meaning real time gets used & not ingame-time. For keeping track of your time, use LiveSplit to time it. Make sure to learn how to use it well!
I thought these were the rules? Yes I am aware he's not a mod just these made the most sense.
The rules for 100% in LCU:
Timing starts after hitting "OK" on the autosave screen. Timing ends when you collect/purchase the last object for 100%. Cutscenes may be skipped.
Ummm, I'm pretty sure this game is not timed by in-game time... It is timed by real time, therefore just with screenshots, that would not count.
But, I agree a 100% category should be added because why not :P
Yeah, I could change the runs to real time (I think). I agree it would be hard, that's a problem.
Just like for SM64: One of those sub tabs for DS/3DS, one for VC, and one for emulator.
Another thing, why are VC runs displayed but emulator runs aren't? Both have faster loading times.
Yet another thing, how do I get the emulator runs to show up? The option is not where I'd expect it to be.
Beat Bowser in the Dark World, Beat Bowser in the Fire Sea, and most IL runs don't have video evidence.
