Yea, the EXP awarded for an attack is depending on the % of maximum HP the attack would've dealt, even as an overkill. Which direction you attack from affects it as well.
Here's a link to my original spreadsheet that I used when I routed my initial Kingdom run: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19J8oJdJYqD0fCllVI02g8L6XbechTaG8B_u_B1L4b6g/edit?usp=sharing
It contains ATAC stats, ability requirements, EXP modifiers (level discrepancies, positions), and some more stuff. Since I'm currently in the final year of university and working on my B.A. thesis, I'm not able to do much, but maybe you guys can find some use for it.
Hey Yume,
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you within a reasonable amount of time. For some reason, the Agarest boards where not marked as "Following" anymore, so I received no e-mails that you had posted here. And due to university, I don't login that often unless I receive a notification. But I'm glad to see that the speedrun.com staff helped set you up!
Once again, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, and I hope that more runners will get into this. I started routing it, but the university picked up speed and I just didn't have time for it anymore.
Added NG+. Also made you a mod for it hydro.
To all others who've waited, I apologize. I had notifications turned off for this game and didn't realize people had shown any interest.
speedrun.comへよこそう!
Thank you for providing a link to your gameplay! I will take a look at once I renew my premium membership on Niconico. One thing I noticed when I saw another Japanese run of Arc the Lad (unless I missed it) was that you don't have to go to the 5th floor in the Forbidden Ruins (when getting the Summoning Pot for Chongara). In the JP version it seems it's enough to go to the 4th floor and then go back up. Is this true?
Also, your English is good, don't worry! Do you know how much Arc the Lad costs in Japan now? I'm moving back to Tokyo in January, so I want to try and see if I can find a copy of the game there.
I created a discord for the Arc the Lad games if people are interested. It can be found here: https://discord.gg/xvXVbR6
I created a Discord channel for the game series if anyone's interested. It can be found here: https://discord.gg/xvXVbR6
Also, I was curious to see if the game information will be updated (JP region, PS3/PSP/PS Vita version (through PSN), etc.)
I've watched the SDA run and using it as a base for routing as well, had not seen the niconico run before though, so gonna check that out as well. Thanks for the tip!
Hi there, been working on this game for a bit and doing research. I was just wondering if there are any public notes to Arc the Lad that I could use as a base.
I have updated the rules with the new RTA timing information (start game to entering Spirit Stone Chamber). Should we do some testing with ePSXe as well? I know ePSXe is generally allowed on SRL, but it wouldn't hurt to test different versions of it to see which ones we might allow.
I have never really heard of PSXfin. However, from what I've heard, ePSXe 1.9 was supposed to be decently accurate. What are your views on that emulator? It's also fairly widely used as far as I know (then again, my knowledge could be a bit outdated).
For starting time, as a runner of other games, I feel it's easiest to start timing on "New Game", personally, instead of hoping to accurately get the start on a specific in-game queue. Then again, that could just be me.
Jimmy33 was the first one to start routing the RTA run, and Elmagus used some of his notes as far as I can remember, which included the timing as well, so I think that's where the end point was taken from.
In regards to IGT vs RTA, I'm not sure what is best. Should PS1/PSX and PS2 with fast load speed be judged together or as separate categories?
Time Gate I definitely agree on should be part of it (as it's part of the game, and something that was intend for you to be able to obtain). The same goes for the optional bosses in FF games, some of which can be ludicrously difficult, but they are designed to be that way, while still being possible to beat. Where as Gadwin isn't supposed to be beaten (at least not at the point when you first encounter him).
If I remember correctly, however, there's some optional dungeon in the game, but I can't remember what's in it.
In general, I'd say it's up to the community as a whole. With the extreme grind required, I personally don't feel it should be required (since you're not intended to defeat him in a regular playthrough, and to me, 100% is a regular playthrough, just obtaining everything that's available to obtain). So unless you get something special by defeating him the first time that can't be obtained in any other way, I don't think it should be required.
I actually think you messaged me about it last month as well on Twitch, and I sent you a response on there as well. But yea, I personally don't feel it should be required, unless there's a reward that can't be acquired any other way.
@30Cents: It is true that I am not on too much just browsing around. That said, I do have notifications on everything on the site (forum posts, run submissions, etc) so that I get e-mailed when something new occurs in any of the games that I mod, and I also have several other social media areas where I can be reached (easiest being twitch and twitter). I usually respond within 24 hours after I've been contacted, unless I've been swamped with work. This thread is generally if a super mod can't be reached at all or hasn't been on for 3+ months.
Anyway, the segments WR run is old, true, but it's the latest one available. There have been no new JP records, no new runs on SDA, and no more submitted runs. So as far as that is concerned, it is the most recent one. If you've found any other runs that you'd like added, feel free to tell me, even mods miss things sometimes.
The fact that there are no rules, however, is a miss on my part. I added the game rather quickly as eLmaGus completed his run so that it was saved for posterity if other people wanted to run the game (and it was the first RTA run that was completed amongst people I've watched ever run it, being Jimmi33 and eLmaGus). I will try and add these within the next few days. For ideas of when to start and stop the timer, it's start on "New Game" and ends on the final hit to Evil Gaia. I also updated the video links to the RTA run (since it seems they had gone broken), so that one works again if you want to try and take notes or similar.
In regards to you being a mod, I haven't seen any runs from you yet, or even attempts (no past broadcasts of the game, nor highlights). So at this time, I am reluctant to. If you have any further questions, feel free to message me on Twitter, or write on the game forums.
EDIT: I just saw your message. Don't worry about bothering me, it's my "job" as a mod to help out if there are any questions :)
For the categories, you can right-click the categories on the left-hand side (menu) and open in a new window.
For the front-page, you can CTRL+click the run and it'll open it in a new tab.
I can see where you're coming from though.
As Noishiru said, check with the community. I routed parts of Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment and on my PSP the game lags during some animations and the like. With PPSSPP however, there's no lag at all and barely any loading times, making it much, much faster, so I ended up not using emulator for the game at all when timing areas.
For the first one, it does it by default. Underneath the main timer it should display a smaller one. That one displays the time for the current segment.
As for the column one, I'm not sure. You could mess around with the "Add column" option in layout settings (Edit Layout -> Layout Settings -> Splits tab -> Scroll to the bottom).
For separate qualities you'd have to have two instances of OBS running, where one would do the local recording and one would handle the streaming.
Is there a need for more crew? I live in Sweden (outside of Uppsala) and wouldn't mind helping out if it's needed.
Yea, I figured I'd ask since I work as a web developer as well, so it's professional interest as well ;)
I mean, in the worst case, I could just cut off a part of the BG and fix it that way.
