October 11th has been announced as the full release. We should probably archive the board at that time and make new categories for the full game.
Let me know if anyone has opinions on this. We should definitely wait a few days/weeks after release to figure out what categories fit best.
New Level added for Strumklamm
Added a new "All Levels" category that required 6 levels.
I renamed the previous "all" categories to "5 Levels" and "5 Levels - Single Weapon" as to not remove those runs from the leaderboard. At some point that "5 Level" categories will probably be archived, but for now I think it is valuable to have them visible so other people can see examples of strats/runs.
Feel free to leave feedback or suggest new categories as the game continues to progress in EA.
I did not play this game on the 1.25 version or before. Either the game did not have mutations then, or runners were not using them. None of the current rules address mutations.
There runs submitted with and without mutations, and the mutations definitely make significant difference. Since the rules were not clear in the past (and I cannot find where previous moderators discussed it), I am going to add sub-categories for Mutation and Non-Mutation runs. This will apply to the Full game and ILs
Please feel free to discuss or provide feedback.
- You can use the Final Guard armor to carry an item over from one run to the next.
- If you use the Final Guard armor to carry an item over, you can then change armor and start a run with any armor/item combo.
- This works if you die with the Final Guard armor on (the game will prompt you to pick an item to keep), not if you restart. Also if you close the game, you lose the carry over item.
Using this mechanic means we will likely need to grind for an ideal item before being able attempt *optimal" runs. With that in mind we are going to add Restricted and Unrestricted sub-categories.
Restricted will include all runs that DO NOT use a carry over item. Unrestricted will allow for the use of carry over items. All the currently submitted runs fall into the "Restricted" category.
This decision was discussed and made with feedback from runners and community members in discord. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to reach out to me, or pop in discord to chat.
As of right now we are going to be using the In-Game time for runs, but we are not sure how accurate the in game timer is. We have some runners with runs that are 19 minutes RTA and 15 minutes in game time.
Just be aware we might have to swap to RTA timing. If that is the case I can re-time any existing runs.
Categories to start are "Normal Ending" and "Secret Ending", each with a sub-category for "Single Stock" and "Infinite Stock". You can have multiple runs in each category (1 run for each character).
More categories will be added if people are running different things or we feel like we need to expand the board a bit more.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts!
