Hello everyone, if you have been following this page, you have noticed that the PS2/PSP/Wii runs are completely gone from this page. This is due to a recent leaderboard discussion in the discord on what was needed to update the boards and the best idea going forward was to split the boards entirely which gave not only better control of the categories and leaderboard, but a cleaner look as well, due to the way SRC is currently built.

This is now the home for All PS3/X360 (New Gen) Runs.

The PS2/PSP/Wii boards have been moved to The Simpsons Game (PS2/PSP/Wii) - Speedrun.com, please follow that page as that is the new home for the "Old Gen" version, and there will be an update post on that page aswell to explain all the changes on that board.

As for this board, we have added some new categories, moved some, and changed the order.

(The following were all discussed and/or voted on)

  • We have made NG+ the Main Category
  • We have moved All Collectibles to Category Extensions, due to this just being 100% without Time Challenges.
  • We have added All Level Collectibles. This is where you collect every collectable and cliche in the 16 Story Levels. We believe this would be a fun category as the Springfield collectibles can be a bit of a drag, and can allow for more runs of just the levels.
  • We have moved All Time Challenges to the Misc Tab
  • We have added All Springfield Collectables, which is collecting all 350 collectibles and the 3 clichés in springfield. This will be in the Misc Tab.

For the Individual Levels Leaderboard

  • We have N/A'ed Land of Chocolate Co-op Any%, All Collectibles, and Time Challenge
  • We have N/A'ed all Co-op Time Challenges that can't be played Co-Op (This is due to the way is leaderboard is built, it looks ugly we know)

This is all the updates that have happened as of June 20th, 2024. And again we want to thank everyone who had an input in the discussion.

As the result of a recent development for PS3/X360, we have now decided to split Any% into two different categories. We now have Any% No Position Storage and we have Any%. Let's talk about that.

3/23/22 brought us the discovery of Position Storage thanks to a video by a runner named ToxicPinHead. The basic example for it is shown here:

To sum up the setup, you have to play with autosave disabled, which makes this trick currently impossible on PS3, which forces autosave no matter what. Next thing you do is press start and the Y button at the same time over a light beam to the next level. You then hit exit game, and that instead brings you to the level you're going to and your position is saved from the hub world, so most of the time without proper setup, you'll be spawned out of bounds. You can actually set it up to be spawned in certain positions, which skips out big chunks of levels. We now finally have a use for the infamous Homer Fly Glitch, which was never used in a speedrun before, cause now you can just float up anywhere you want, get the correct position, do the setup, and then you'll be warped.

Unfortunately, if we let this be allowed in the normal Any% category, PS3/X360 runners wouldnt really be able to compete with each other anymore, thanks to it being platform exclusive. We had no choice but to split, so that way, we have at least one form of Any% anyone can play and compete in, no matter what they're on.

Few other things to note, Position Storage is banned from all individual level categories relating to PS3/X360, as that is pre-run setup and not comparable to doing it through the Episodes & Challenges menu. The rules have also been rewritten to be much more clearer.

Thank you all for reading, happy running!

Category Extensions have a new category called "Multiple" where, if you want :) , you can run both the X360/PS3 and PS2/Wii Versions of the game in the same run! You can run either Any%, NG+, or 100% as of now and maybe more will be added in the future, who knows. But I myself thought this would be a fun category to run, even if it might be long. Playing 2 "different" games right after each other sounds both fun and challenging, which is what us speedrunners like! (that sounded cringe)

Hopefully I'm not the only one that is gonna actually run this... right...

Also format variable has been added to C.E. as that wasnt added before

Hello! The TSG leaderboards have been updated to include a format variable. The new variable introduced is used to indicate what you're running the game off of in your run.

There are only two options, Disc and HDD. If you played the game off disc for any version, mark your run down as Disc. If you installed your game to the Xbox 360's hard drive and/or are HDD loading off any console to do your run, mark that down as HDD.

While it may seem unimportant, it's a good thing to specify what a run was done off of just incase any questions are thrown around or if something in the future happens. The only thing not allowed currently to run on is if you have your game installed to/loading it off a SSD.

Modding your consoles to run the game has always been allowed, it's what can make PS2 and PS3 catch up to Wii and X360 respectively, but there hasn't been any testing done with SSD loading. What we do know, is that for Wii and X360 you need to mod your console in order to have access to using it. PS3 would need modding as well to dump the disc to the SSD since it's one of many games on the console to not install game data to the internal drive. The loads would be faster than the max we allow currently, which is X360 HDD. On a side note, if you use a SSD in your PS3 and play off disc, the loads would only be a second faster. This is allowed, but you mark it down as disc.

Thank you for reading, happy running!
