I was wondering if a mod could add a ROM hack called Super Pixel bros. Runners: Me, LeonToast(he is running it as i submit this), jt, jeremy I can voluntarily become a mod.

iirc if youre trying to submit an extension of smb1 you need to ask an smb1 mod first so thats probably why hes asking

A ROM hack isn't an extension, and anyone can submit ROM hacks, not just moderators of the game that the hack is based on.

What's the point of this romhack? I mean, it's an ugly version of SMB 1. I don't really see any difference. It doesn't deserve a category imo.

@Oh_Snap so, basicaly, as well as you are saying, do you mean that to have a category of this type would be exactly the same that the any% and the same tan to have an "All Stars" category, no? Sounds logic, so basicaly it would be have to can be used to an any% run;

The grafics are strange, but by the rest sound logic xd Mmmm… now I investigate it, I dont look as a bad idea for a category realy, in fine, would be more different than the "All Stars" mode I think, without offend it

By the way, effectivately, I aproach to say that I dont understand the difference into the original SMB and of the "All Stars" mode of SMB; Apart of the grafics of course lul, but to run would be exactly the same idea, nope? I dont look it, sorry if Im wrong :)

@KilleDragon All stars and NES version are different. Hitboxes are better in all stars and there is more flagpole manipulation.

The place it would go would be "Rom Hacks" - since they did an overhaul of speedrun.com to have nested categories for games --> "Super Mario Series" contains all the smario games --> "Super Mario Bros." is the primary landing page, including our primary five categories, then it further splits into category extensions... which are just smb1 but different rulesets, or "romhacks" which is exactly what this is - it isn't a category extension.

There are currently 9 romhacks on the board, and the mod list for each hack is independent of super mario bros. - there are three games with only one submission, and the most submitted romhack (super luigi bros) has.... eleven...

and along with other things, they state that you must have a video of yourself completing your proposed category in your game along with the submission.

Go to the link provided above, and click the button "Single Game" and fill out the fields - in the additional notes, you'd indicate that it's a romhack for super mario bros.

Super Pixel Bros doesn't look any different in termes of mechanics. You can even go to the minus world. I don't think we should add this kind of romhacks on speedrun.com. It's like if we changed the color palette of the game and make this a category.

Now I've actually seen a video of this hack - and I'm curious - are the physics different? is it JUST a visual change? or is there a fundamental physics change along with the "pixelation" - at least watching this it LOOKS like it's the exact same game, just with modified graphics. If it's literally the same game with different graphics, I would agree that it probably doesn't warrant its own category - since it's literally the same thing, just with different graphics. But I'm not in charge of any of that.

Until if is just visual, is strange to play it, so nice xdxd
