If older moderators may remember, I asked for a new category to be added. HUB%. The aim was to complete all tutorial checkpoints and fully upgrade the HUB. The main criticism was that too many categories would discourage new runners but I heavily debate that as HUB% is an incredibly simple and easy run. It took me and my friends 10 minutes and we suck. I conclusion, I think HUB% would be an amazing new category to add.
I do remember that conversation! Still hesitant to get into the pattern of making new novelty categories for every idea (I've done a bunch of speedruns that aren't listed as categories on this site), but if you post about it in the Discord (lots more active users there) you may be able to drum up some other interest or at least we can see the run you did and chat about making a category from there :)
The category could potentially be set as miscellaneous to avoid the user being shown too many categories if that's the main issue in adding it
The main factors for creating a category would be:
- Uniqueness
- How many people are interested in it
Joining the discord and seeing if there is more interest would satisfy the 2nd point. When it comes to uniqueness, the question becomes how different is it from the other categories out there (package% specifically). An example would be that people have done a Coal Power%, but that is really similar to package% (do package% and then submit Coal Power).
It does bring up the question: Can we add a hub% category and allow skip intro in package%? That would make the 2 categories very unique to each other, and we can finally figure out why skip intro isn't allowed in package% :P
