Despite there not really being a category I've started doing some runs for the Overgrowth story on easy. I'm guessing that the two new categories are going to be Overgrowth story and Lugaru Story with sub sections for the three respective difficulties. I'm looking forward to running both categories :)
I clocked in my first O-Story (easy) run at 52:13.58 I started on the first input on White Flags and stopped when the game boots you back to the level select screen. I think that the ending split could be when the last dialogue starts though since you don't really have to do anything after that.
I'd prefer a few catagories: Overgrowth Story (Easy) Overgrowth Story (Advanced) Overgrowth Story (Expert) Overgrowth Story (Easy/No Skips) Overgrowth Story (Advanced/No Skips) Overgrowth Story (Expert/No Skips)
No Skips would mean no Retry skipping - if you push Retry in certain spots, it can save a second or two of walking. It's a pretty small difference, but if it's used 200 times in the run, it's an arbitrary time save that would make runs kind of boring to watch because of the constant pausing.
How about I go and create variables for you guys and you can mark if your run is which difficulty and if you used Retry Skipping?
Personally I don’t see the point of having reset skips as a different category. A lot of games have something like that and if it turns out that the time save is indeed arbitrary then there won’t be a need for another categorie. I do like the Idea of having difficulty variables.
On a side note is the current patch for the lugaru story the same as beta 5? I’d like to start running that as well but I want to know what category it is first.
If someone finds some serious skips it could be broken out into glitchless any% and any%. The difficulty categories make more sense to me for now since it does change the game enough to make a time difference as far as I know.
I like the idea of variables. I also agree with @GoodleShoes that if there's a major skip (like a whole level or section of levels being wrongwarped past) it should have its own category, but I retract my previous statement about having 6 catagories for 1 story.
