Here is a list of open tasks to participate in the development of MRER speedrunning. When starting a task, you are welcome to create a new thread in the forum to start work and discussion there! Please contact me, @ratn if you need more information about a task, or have results.
Sometimes, one of the two enemies entering the first hallway in lvl1 don't make it into the hallway, which holds the door open, and fighting them can be skipped. It seems like having polygons active in the first room increases the chances of this happening (having the two goons from the first room loaded, having glass in the process of breaking, etc)
- Understand how to affect the probability of hallway skip occurring.
- Find setup to consistently produce hallway skip.
In Pepper Hotel, we know that thugs need to be defeated in order to open the door to the bathroom of the upper hotel room, and the door to the hallway in the lower hotel room. However it is not clear which or how many thugs need to be defeated to trigger the door to open.
- identify trigger for upper hotel room door.
- identify trigger for lower hotel room door.
In the last room of Pepper Hotel, precrime can randomly drop an impact shotgun. It appears like bringing one or two enemies from the staircase out to the next room increases the drop rate, but this is still unclear. Here is the current analysis: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16AlJeVZmaghw4uYEKazHxSCwMH-u9hiREVPEU5Xrgks/edit#gid=0
In light of knowing that the two first precrime in the staircase will drop a concussion rifle, and that they can despawn if brought into the next room, do a fresh analysis, trying to understand if, and if so how, the drop rates are affected.
In Sprawl Subway, in the final room, a certain amount of precrime need to be defeated for the level to end. When precrime in the final room are killed, new precrime will spawn. Not all precrime need be killed, as the level sometimes ends with precrime alive.
- Figure out which precrime(s) cause the end level trigger
- Figure out whether going down left or right affects this trigger.
A glitch was identified in Sprawl Riot, where when using the LRGARMS (invincibility) cheat, one could occasionally get killed anyway by a molotov cocktail, in which case John would respawn glitched. In this state, everything he touched would take a hit and be sent flying. See:
- Identify what causes the glitch exactly with LRGARMS cheat
- Reproduce glitch without LRGARMS
- Find setup for glitch
- Reproduce glitch in other levels with molotov cocktails (Pepper Hotel, Brawl in the Sprawl)
It seemed in this clip that Mosely took damage from electricity:
- Try to trigger a wave of precrime using the electricity to conclusively prove that the electricity does damage Mosely.
- Find a setup to hurt him using electricity.
