Its popular enough at this point and per the discord discussions it's probably time to set an official start and end timing spot/some rules - but also enforcing milliseconds as the times get pretty neck and neck. Thoughts on putting together a small agreed on list? - The sonic 1 sms board is probably a good reference point.

This is what I would propose, something easy for frame counting:

  • Start - first frame when the player sprite appears on screen after pressing start
  • Stop - last frame when president walk down, the first frame when the player stop moving

I kind of prefer screen transitions, for example when the screen turns black. But I think we should stay as close as the original timing

I do like the idea of the first frame that your character sprite appears, but that would shave about 1.2 seconds off the run. You'd likely have to start the timer with a -1.25.

It makes sense though because that is when player input starts.

I think the start and end times are fine. I just think the mod should have updated the rules for new runners. I of course will always check a few runs for reference. I vote that Marceau helps with moderation as he is a very fast and through passionate mod. To help with the game as its currently very poplar. Ramus could updated the rules with some start and end times. But again the current start and end times are fine with me.

yep good point, then let's do
