I want to get into speedrunning this game and I'm wondering what keys are most effective for the controls, I didn't find any guide on this.
Thanks in advance :)
All of the binds are pretty straight forward. If you use WASD, then all you have to do is bind Sprint to LShift instead of RShift. If you play with the arrow keys then bind the keys to whatever fits you.
If you are using WASD, then you could use E as an alternative sprint button if your pinky isn't strong enough to infinite sprint long distances. There might be other binds for looking back while in a vehicle but i'm not entirely sure.
Looking forward to seeing a run from you.
E: Some might use Q and E for weapon cycling if your mousewheel is too sensitive.
Using an alternative key to look backwards in vehicles could be really fortunate. Practicing driving while looking backwards early on could help you a lot when you get better in this game. (Since you can prevent traffic from spawning)
E isn't the best sprint key. It's best to keep your WASD digits (index, middle and ring fingers) dedicated to just those keys during movement. Example, moving diagonally right (W and D) could be clunky with E as sprint.
I use Space for sprint, since my pinky sucks and I like using my thumb as it's easier to keep a rhythm.
I also use Q and E for weapon switch, because I'm a weirdo. Almost everyone uses scrollwheel, but I've found success in Q/E. Up to you.
Instead of holding Space (primary sprint) when getting into vehicles, I hold Left Ctrl (secondary sprint). Also a weirdo personal change, but hey, it works for me. I never use Left Ctrl for Sprint on foot.
Unbind vehicle submission from Numpad + to prevent accidental submission activations/deactivations when using Num 9 (such as during Pizza Boy). I use CAPS LOCK for submission.
That's... about it, I think. GL to you!
While it doesn't matter much in VC because there is a lack of mouselook (wtf Rockstar), having any frequently used keys bound on the numpad at all is ridiculous to me. I bound lean forward and backwards to something I can reach with both my thumbs without moving them from the place where they usually would be and are comfortable (being WASD+BN and the mouse+thumbbuttons). Ofc this requires the presence of thumb buttons on your mouse.
Binding the submission key to something remote is however a good idea. The numpad for example would be great.
Spacebar as sprint because your pinky will get tired tapping LShift. You can still hold LShift when driving away to keep the door open (it will honk the horn).
VC Enthusiasts, good news!
The VC Mod Team has decided to allow users to access a y-sens fix for mouse issues. This can be used legally in speedruns from today onwards, with only one rule.
