Anyone interested in using this forum / making a discord, to discuss ways of improving runs?

E.g What towers are useful, how many, what level is cost effective etc.

or the idea of having two paths to the end and switching between blocking each one to switch the pathfinding of the enemies. How and when best to allow lives to be lost. Most optimal wave spam combinations i.e for instance (at least using the current formation) doing waves 3-6 after placing the stun. suggestions for different formations using the ideas discussed above

Just got a time of 8m 2s. I realised if you spam waves near the end only to ~48-49, you can separate the bosses from the pack and get rid of them early. Saves time not needing to funnel them later and more damage is done to normal enemies instead of the huge bulk of the bosses. I also found a 1-2 areas where you can allow enemies through so that you can keep them on the longer path where the damage is, reducing the need to do as much switching of paths. Focusing upgrades instead of placing buildings bottom right, especially ground over air. Found a few areas where I know there is a big mob of enemies that will sort itself out so I don't need to react. Edited the design ever so slightly to do more damage with extra icbms.

Well juggling is INSANE in runs from 13 years ago... I think perfecting those absolutely mad strats is a first step to lowering each mode, for easy I think probably sub 3 is possible, sub 5 for medium, and in DTD 1.5 6:47 has been done. I think I might separate 1.5 and 1 and DTD Pro and make it into a series.

Damn, that's impressive.

Yeah I agree with sub 5 for medium. Currently going for ~6:30. Btw from what I can see older players didn't seem to like the use of bash towers or losing lives. Not sure, if maybe when the game is more popular to add a split for losing lives / no lives lost.

Also noticed there's a few key binds (atleast in 1.21b) n > next round s > sell u > upgrade 1-6 > different towers

Then some less useful p > pause r > reset

Might be more, just the ones I found.

Final thing, is there an easy way to determine the dps of all the towers and their levels? Currently debating whether Dart towers with the splash is better than the single target squirt towers. Since most vids are using 1.5 with the ink tower thing.

I don't know, I've been using dart towers in my attempts along with squirt towers, I can put together a document that shows all of the upgrades and find out how often they shoot to find out dps & what each level is

Nice work on the doc! Could you maybe also add how much each enemy is worth when killed?

Been looking at some vids. diagonals seem important and there's no bash towers, Frost is also a common occurrence. . Sadly most of them are going for score so the designs are a bit slow and the vids are sped up so I can't make out what strats might be faster than others. My idea of letting bosses and others go early saves time in the short term, but I think the money lost affects upgrading towers significantly. 90% sure the 2 fast bosses alone are worth 120 each.

xD missed sub 7 by 0.46. Think frost towers are useful when combined with / sandwiched between bash towers.

yeah that's how I've been using them in my spawns runs. I've been so close to sub 10 spawns with a few different juggling layouts

just submitted a sub 10 spawns run, the thing I was missing was grouping everything into the top left and then leading into two paths, the main issue with my previous spawn runs was allowing both spawns to split, i think i can sub 8 somewhat soon
