I just finished the game and want to watch some speedruns but I'm confused on how the categories can differ so much from each other. I guess I'm kinda interested in most of the main categories but one thing I don't quite understand is why there's a glitchless and an all chapters category. Wouldn't a glitchless run complete all the chapters regardless? and what the deal with 1.0 and 1.1? How does 1.0 save so much time compared to 1.1 especially in something like 100% where it's almost half the time of 1.1? What are some of the glitches and exploits that are used? I'm really interested in the speedrunning of this game but it seems like there is so much that it's hard to find a place to start.

Basically, for glitchless, 1.1 is faster then 1.0 since the 1.1 update introduced the dash feature which normally on 1.0 isn't present until chapter 5 & wasn't a viable form of movement, it was incredibly slow. Because of 1.1 being the most obtainable version of the game as well as the fastest, it means that there is no seperator for glitchless since there wouldn't be any point of having one. With 100% and other glitched categories, 1.0 has some glitches which were patched out in 1.1 meaning 1.0 is the fastest version for those. However because 1.1 is the default & most accessible version, to keep the run more accessible to people, that's why the split is there.

All Chapters can still use glitches, but cannot skip any chapters like any% does.

1.0 has unpatched glitches that can save a lot of time.

In 100%, 1.0 and 1.1 were routed by different runners, completely separate from each other. Even accounting for patched glitches, the 1.0 run uses a lot of strategies that the 1.1 run does not which further exaggerates the time difference.

In any%, the biggest change was a singular blocked path which prevents 1.1 from skipping chapters 2-5.
