You can still use an older version of Beta for running a specific character if they were better before. We never banned that. Making new categories/boards just doesn't make any sense. People ask us to do this every time there's a new update. It would be such a mess if we did. This is an issue with any game that's continually updated. Someone's gonna be upset no matter what we choose to do. There's no pleasing everyone. For now, we're keeping the leaderboard as is.
No. It's not different enough to need a new leaderboard. It would be super arbitrary to add new boards every time there's a new version. It would add so much clutter. The boards are already cluttered as they are. Maybe when version 2.0 comes out we will.
It did appear that the in-game time provided seemed inconsistent. This is why I decided to use real time for timing runs.
Sorry. I'm just now seeing this. No. It's pretty optimized. I wouldn't say it's free, but that's just my opinion. The most annoying thing is getting all the frame-perfect jumps at the end of each level to maintain momentum and speed up the level end animation. I mistimed a few of those jump on level 1 and 3.
At the end of level 2, you can boost yourself to the right off of the boulder with a precise jump, and trigger the level end before you even get up. I also had an unnecessary ledge-grab in this level.
In level 4, I didn't fall straight down to the moving platform. I hit one of the wooden platforms by mistake. I could have made some earlier jumps in the ending section too.
So there are a few more time-saves, but it's hard to get everything just right. I think it could go down about 3 more seconds if everything is absolutely perfect.
I had no idea about the different version of Scratch, honestly. I just googled the game and played it on the 1st link that came up. My game seems to be running the same as the other players on the boards. Aren't we all on the same version?
I was looking through the old forum posts and saw this one. I noticed most of these times weren't updated. Do videos exist for these times?
This is pretty much a dead speedgame, so idk if anyone still cares. I don't know for sure if Raphael is the best or not for speedruns. I used him cause the SNES speedrun of the game uses him. This version is based more on the arcade version, so Michelangelo might be the better character. I really have no idea.
This is something that was never tested. If anyone is able to test it, it would be appreciated. I probably won't. I don't even have my 360 hooked up anymore. I probably won't run this game again. I just wanted to throw it out there that it's unknown who the best character is.
On the 2nd phase of the Olaf Boss (when the penguin starts flying around), you cannot hurt Olaf while the penguin is air the air.
This is something I didn't realize at first when doing runs that cost me a lot of time. Don't make the same dumb mistake I did. Attack the penguin's balloons as soon as it gets off of Olaf's back.
Changing your in-game language to Japanese saves some time in the Arcade Towers. Japanese text has less characters, thus having less text-boxes. It saves a few seconds on Easy, and even more on Medium and Hard, since there are more stages.
I don't know if this affects Trials, but I keep it in Japanese for that too, just in case. I'll update this if I find out it does.
I honestly don't know. That's something I noticed recently and have been trying to figure out. It didn't used to be that way. Both "view all" and the character specific boards used to show all the times. Could be some sort of site glitch that makes them hidden on specific boards. This only happens on the times for version 9b for some reason.
I've changed the rules for Death% to allow getting coins to reset the timer and then dying. Disallowing this in the 1st place didn't make much sense anyway, to be honest. This makes the category more optimizable and competitive. Now 2s, 1s, and even 0s times are possible. Enjoy the meme, everyone.
Good point. Making resetting the timer with coins not allowed wasn't the best choice, looking back. It makes the category a complete meme and not very competitive.
I'll change the rules to allow resetting the timer with coins. It makes a lot more sense. Thank you for bringing this up.
Yes, Yoshi's super armor protects against all those attacks. A certain amount of damage will break the super armor. Some characters' spiking moves will cancel it, for example. Idk about Mega Man having it. Never really played him. (Sorry about the late reply. I missed the notifications for your replies.)
I don't think phantoms exist in this game. Maybe what you're talking about is super-armor? Yoshi has "super-armor" during his double-jump. During the jump he takes damage but not knockback if he gets hit.
That's a horrible analogy, BrotherAdams. The difference between completing everything and just doing the fastest route is a lot more than just 1 small glitch. Ladder glitch or no ladder glitch, this is still Any%. Making seperate categories for the 2 would be super arbitrary. It would be more like having an "11 Exit", and an "11 Exit No Orb/Cloud Glitch" in SMW. Pointless. This is what category extensions pages are for, not main boards.
Is it possible for an individual level leaderboard for the Time Trials to be added? They could be ranked by in-game time. It could be a cool way to add some more variety and friendly competition to this game. There's so few categories as it is.
It's not a glitch. It's simply taking advantage of a game mechanic. You're timing your jump to preserve momentum. The game is still working as intended.
Thank you for letting everyone know that. That's pretty interesting. When I had done my runs, I just did them on the downloaded version cause I just assumed it would be faster, but I never did any testing. It's good to know I was correct.
It just sucks I did my run on a crappy cam software that has no sound and froze towards the end. I would like to improve it at some point.
