Yeah, did not even consider the idea of cutscenes outside of the typical loading screens being different (idk why i didnt lmao), well was still worth a shot as an idea :)
Yeah all they do is remove the load times, doesn't seem like there is much different outside of that aspect.
Personally all i think the mods would have to do is remove the load times, so when first frame the screen goes black to the first frame the next screen pops up (as an example)
It is a little bit of work but for letting everyone compete against everyone, i think that would be a super fun thing! (I'd also be happy to help go through older runs to update them, though i reckon only the top 10 from each should be "updated" and just have it that going forwards runs will be done through LRT)
To add on, New Super Mario Bros Wii appears to have a combined leaderboard, that game is also on the Wii so if they have figured out how to do it, then it should translate to MP8? They seem to use "LRT", which is Load Removed Time. Which simply removes the Load Times from a run. They also have an RTA section next to it, so both are there. But LRT's time is what they go with for the WR (which makes sense)
Maybe we should have a look into NSMBW and see how they handle it? I'm more then happy to try and find the solution on my own or with yall too ^^
To my knowledge, Mario Kart 64 uses the "1.2024 conversion rate", im unsure exactly what the difference is between PAL and NTSC on Wii // Mario Party 8. Pal does run slower for MK64 which makes it easier to race on, though that isn't an issue for them, so i don't think that side of things would be an issue for MP8
If loads are an issue, couldn't you just do IGT as well as Real-Time? Then (if possible) using the 1.2024 conversion rate you can have both PAL and NTSC?
Just spit balling of course, i think having a combined leaderboard would be better. Though i do agree that putting more work on the mods is bad, but if it's as simple as MK64 or we similar, i don't see why we can't! :D
Surprised we don't have a combined leaderboard like other games (an example would be mario kart 64 where they minus the times from PAL to NTSC)
Would be more fun too!
