Submit whatever runs you want to, dude. We will approve them. Though we would appreciate if you try to maybe only submit once per day. If you're sitting down to do a session of PB attempts, don't stop in the middle to submit every PB. Just submit your best one after the session is over.
I am timing my runs in the following way. I think there might be a small difference between the way we are timing:
Start: Press start on title screen End: Screen goes fully black (as the screen fades out, you can still control your character)
Just wanted to let you know. If you need to re-time my run with however you are timing it, that's fine, but we should try to be consistent. Also the rules on the leaderboard should probably reflect our timing rules.
Can the timing start from the title screen rather than "Stage 1". It is fairly arbitrary when to start the splits (when you see "stage 1" flying in? When they settle in place? When they disappear?) and it is technically starting after you've already taken control (since you are controlling your character in the tutorial, and which character you choose there can take different amounts of time).
I'd like to be made a mod for Donkey Kong Jr, if only to make sure that runs that get submitted are being approved. Mine has been in the queue for more than a week, and the current mod hasn't logged in for almost a month. https://www.speedrun.com/dkjr
"Texas, U.S."
I'm skeptical lmao
In short: is it possible for me to load another Wii U's NG+ HW file onto mine, and if so, is anyone willing to share. I'd like to run NG+ coop, but the grind is reeeeeeeeeeeeal.
I'll tell you what. Run the category, get a time, and we will entertain the idea of making it a category. Not that it will happen, but we will entertain the idea. You have not done any speedruns of SMW from what I can find and so what you are doing right now is attempting to micromanage a community you aren't involved with. If you'd like to discuss the relative merits of ACE vs NMG in a speedrun context, that's fine, but this conversation is going to quickly become a massive circlejerk, all for the purpose of "intellectual debate".
Not every action that can be undertaken in a video game requires a speedrun leaderboard category. The name of the category doesn't define the rules, the rules define the rules. If there are enough people running the category to warrant a leaderboard, a leaderboard would exist. It doesn't. There aren't. There isn't. That's it.
Each level would need to have a board for: no/yes cape or flower, no/yes/blue yoshi, yes/no wings, secret/normal exit, and for each of these variables, it would need to have a board for both entering and exiting with each of these states (since keeping yoshi and ditching yoshi are very different in many stages, for instance). This makes a board where each level could need up to 50+ different boards just to make sure that the variables are all equal for anyone participating in that IL. Otherwise, the IL is meaningless (why would an IL for YI2 with cape be meaningful when that literally doesn't appear in a single category, for instance?)
This is why ILs are gone (and probably won't come back). SMW is just too complicated of a game. SM64 doesn't have powerups. SMB1 doesn't require powerups to go faster, since small mario is typically the best option. SMW just is too annoying for ILs.
It has been about 2.5 months and my run in this game hasn't been verified: http://www.speedrun.com/run/kz5rjkey
I'm happy to help moderate the leaderboard going forward.
How can this leaderboard even be considered valid when it doesn't have the one possible midrange category (Waifu). Rules: End timer on having your proposal accepted. Look into your heart. You know this to be the one true category!
What would 100% entail? You probably want to at least provide the rules (to be used with speedrun.com's "Show Rules")
Game Genie codes are conventionally banned from speedruns. Not sure that needs to be explicitly stated.
