IGT on consoles is quite difficult to calculate unless you frame-count every load, which is tedious. For subcats, you'd probably need to hit a threshold of difference in gameplay to merit it (e.g. some tricks just outright not working, or physics being different enough to effect the speedrun quite handily
Gonna bump this, I know it's probably hopeless but still good to see if there's any potential new info.
The game must be ran unmodified, and any hardware acceleration is banned. This includes things like Fast Disk Transfer on Dolphin.
Would it be clean to run on?
Wanting to get into this game, wondering if I need the console or if I'd be able to use an emulator. Both options are viable, just one without video :/
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
I don't run the game but a couple of possible suggestions.
Add the individual cups as misc category
Add difficulty as a variable for all cups any%
Have TT's and the score attacks listed under "level leaderboards"
Change the time requirements for video to be a bit less... well... all over the place. 30 minutes for mushroom cup is 3 minutes slower than the worst time, and the time required for all cups is 15 minutes FASTER than WR. '
Also, this game was my shit as a kid, might have to pick it up to run it. Glad there's a scene for it!
Launch-model Fat PS3s are backwards compatible iirc
@GamplingFrog have you made an attempt to contact them? If not, iirc it's either 3 or 6 weeks
Adding to the post by @Tedious, the image for the game is an attack on another speedrunner, and is also just un-necessarily toxic.
Emulator loads are approximately the same as console. GC isn't the optimal console anyway, iirc, as Xbox loads are faster. On top of that, there's no good way to time out loads, unless you mean going off minigame time, in which case I'd say that's good for IL's but not for full game runs
Slander always wins btw Take the spiteful and attacking comments towards each other elsewhere. They aren't needed if you're going to try and be constructive.
The current reason doesn't matter as it's backpedalling, the initial intent is the focus here.
That's quite an extreme opinion
I disagree that their runs should be removed from the boards, but their new submissions should be treated with more scrutiny than normal runs would be
As someone who has been in the community for over 2 years, I will say that (initially, at least) SHiFT never wanted to be the spearhead of the community, it just happened that his stream blew up and he kinda just got thrusted into the role of leader.
Just to add a few things to cosmeme's story, he had been banned and/or unmodded for a few other reasons such as general misconduct in community discords (creating several alts after receiving community bans on his mains for previous issues, and being toxic to provoke several members of the community.)
Edited for clarity, lapse of memory on my part
Not everyone is good at every trick, too. Keep that in mind
