Sorry for replying to this thread 3 years after it became inactive, but I just wanted to say that I would be interested in a category like this. I just recently got interested in prime Speedrunning, and I own the game on my GameCube (which is barely functional) and my Wii for the trillogy version. I thought of grinding for a category like this, and I'll get back to this thread once I I complete a run. As super boss said, the rules would be that you can't use glitches, obviously, or use major skips, which are sequence breaks in the order of items or the accessibility of certain artifacts early. Since my GameCube basically Doesn't work, I could do runs on the trillogy version, and seeing as this game isn't quite dead yet, it might not be a bad idea. In that thread linked by Dyceron, super boss explained the required order of items. I thought I could expand on that, and add a couple rules myself.
First off, Super boss's category idea is called "glitchless, no major skips." Notice how It says "no major skips," not "skipless." I'll take it up on myself to say that maybe small skips could be allowed, ones that don't completely break the game into pieces. This would allow speedrunners to still have a good time running the category, and not get bored to death because they can't do miniature skips that allow some small time save. Here are examples of what I mean:

You can bomb jump up to the artifact in the lava lake to get it early, rather than having to get the space jump boots first.

You can get the artifact of wild before getting the x ray visor.
2.5. This jump is not a double bomb jump, allowing for leniency to the name of the category.
Both of these skips are very minor, and any person can easily pull them off. As for a skipless idea, that would not be necessary, since it would only be 5 minutes slower than no major skips. Adding a categoy like this could increase activity and popularity on the site, as it caters to newer runners. Anyway, I think this is still a cool category idea.
I actually did a run of warioware on switch that ended up being 30:56 (my first run of the game) but I might not be able to upload it since I usually upload runs from Google drive without problems, and now my phone refuses to upload camera videos to Google drive for some reason. (It's not because of space issues. I still have half my space left.) So I'll just keep running the game without recording. I guess there are better ways for me to record, but I run games as a hobby, not for a career.
I will voluntarily do runs of the switch version, then Compare them with the gba record runs. The only thing that might make the switch slower is that it takes 1 or 2 seconds longer to reload the game to skip cutscenes, which can be done extremely quickly using the Gameboy advance's game reset feature. On virtual console, it takes longer to reload the game. On the Wiiu, it takes about 6 seconds to reload the game, and since most people don't own a gba, the Wiiu was their best option. Because of the Wiiu being a couple minutes slower than gba, a wr run on wiiu would be impossible. Now that the switch it out, it Is likely that people will pick this game up again. Anyway I will test the switch's liability.
Metroid prime remastered may or may not be out right now, but I wonder what the community plans to do with it. Will it get its own separate leaderboard, or will there be a new category for the remastered version?
I'm gonna do a run of it today. You have to beat the levels in the order in which they are shown on the world map. At path splits, just choose 1 level. You can start the run while already having cat suits, and you are allowed to use warp exits. I'm estimating my run to be about an hour, but I'll update this thread once I do it. I'll also do 3d Land.
I want to get into running this game, but I have a problem. I am practicing punch card glitches, and I am getting good at skipping cutscenes, but I am not able to perform a successful wrong warp. Every time I wrong warp, I softlock. So basically, my question is how to not softlock while wrong warping.
I wonder if you can skip the Earth Temple in any% as well? Maybe you don't get the Earth vellumental power unless you complete the boss.
The shortest I've seen is Undertale debug mode neutral. The wr Is 1.3 seconds, and has stood for a long time.
I find it pretty funny how BigBoi was screaming "It's over! It's dead!" For 4 minutes straight, only for his run to be beaten in less than 6 months.
It was almoliciois. His any% wr and all flags wr were deleted, so you can just watch the second place run.
That rule is fine but I don't want to play this game for over 8 hours straight so I may just not run it. The day after I posted this comment, coincidentally, my Wiiu charger snapped, so I couldnt charge my wiiu during the run anyway. I may or may not get a new charger soon.
This is the video proof for our 45:08 run. It's definitely improvable. It's in 2 videos because my phone split the recording in 2.
I'll recommend a game that actually goes off of the scratch website. It's called Levi's Quest. It's a short, fun RPG project on scratch created by someone I know back in 2017, and I haven't thought to suggest it until now. Just go to Scratch and look up Levi's Quest, and the real thing should be the first project that pops up. (It's the most popular one) My best run of it is 13 minutes, but I know it can be beaten faster. There are like 6 different endings, a level up system, and many different choices you can make along the way.
