Saw in a few high level runs that the game was still open after the full-screen illuminati jump scare. How does that work? Is the game being reopened while full screen or is the crash being avoided somehow?

Use the practice ROM on an emulator using switch controllers and use that for practice if you definitely want to do it on switch.
