As of November 1st 2024 ET, all runs submitted to the leaderboards must have game audio present and clearly heard.
This doesn't disallow normal streaming activities like talking, background music, etc. Just make sure the game audio can still be heard over it. The higher the ranking of the submission, the stricter this rule will be.
This decision comes after recent runs submitted by talented runners, some in the top 10. Though we believe they are real, we want to stop a situation where a less honest player may take advantage of such a vulnerability in our rules.
Truth be told, we should have made this a rule years ago. However, we will not be clearing the leaderboards of runs submitted before this date, but all future ones must have this requirement. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
Thank you for those few playing Tetris on GB, and keep chasing those PBs and records!
Sorry for vanishing for the better part of the year. I've been going through A LOT in real life. This also includes coming out as trans, but it was mostly moving and other drama surrounding that. I am back now, though, and want to try to get back into runs too. I aim to get a new PB in each category : 3
With the recent uptick of activity for this game and the fact I've become the only active Moderator, I could use at least two more. If you are interested, please message me. I'd prefer someone experienced with this game or puzzle games in general.
Thank you
Demise Avalon
P.S. On a personal update, I've been grinding off-screen lately, looking at the 300K category =P
Could you send me the video with full audio? I just want to be thorough for any top 3 spot.
I can't view the vod without subbing... anyway you could fix that?
Yeah, any footage will do if on a valid system or emulator, and no cheats. Just try to make it as clear as possible! I'll try to be a little more attentive to this as well, sorry!
I suppose a back light is fine... if it's still running on original hardware. But I would like other mods to give their two cents on this first.
Maybe if there was a meme category page for Tetris, there are not enough ideas to make that a worthwhile thing, though.
No one yet, but if others start to, that would be nice o.o And I think I fixed it. I'm new to discord, so my bad.
There are some people who can. The top players in the world. I was more so thinking it just being its own game or category. Doesn't have to be lvl 19. Just sorta an Any% for the Pal version.
As some of you may know, it's faster than the US version. Lvl 18-19 especially. Could we do some type of 100 line category just for the PAL? Or should I try to suggest it being a whole separate game to keep records for? I know a few people on my stream asked about it, at least 1-2 others want to run it.
(I was derp and accidentally posted it to the GB Tetris forum earlier >.>; lol)
You're likely correct. After talking to some other runners on Twitter, I've decided to give it a shot for a 100 Line Race anyway. The worst case is they reject it.
(Btw, we did decide that filmed footage of gameboy etc can be used, as long of the screen is clearly displayed during it.)
Three questions.
- Who's Going?
- Should we bother to try to submit a run or race for it?
- If so. 100 Lines(Any% or Lvl0 start) or 300k?
Yeah lol I do hope to do that some day. But I see your point on it being tedious.
I had two ideas.
One was max score. Perhaps wait until one of us actually gets max score.
The other is 300k, but with a level 0 start.
What does everyone think?
Every other classic tetris game seems to have it, just about. Why not here?
I don't think it matters much either way what it's called o.o GB or Game Boy you kinda get the idea of what version of tetris we're talking about.
Gamebatte is usually the default one Speedrunners use. That's the one Bizhawk also emulates (which is what I use only for it has multiple emulators built in.)
Would be fun to see the player's fingers move during a gameboy playthrough lol Sooo how about we agree it's allowed, but it must be of good quality where the entire game is displayed from beginning to end.
