Whenever I attempt the screen scroll, and I get the 1 frame turnaround then walk forward, Link gets about half way into the wall and stops, yet when I attempt it a pixel or two closer I can't even get the turnaround. I've watched the tutorials but no luck. Any help?
When you say wall...are you trying to go through rock/tree barriers?
Link can only screen scroll through 1-tile barriers going right-to-left scroll. You must go through open OW from left-to-right always.
I made a scrolling tutorial a while back that may help regardless:
Specifically look at the 9:00 mark on the video and see if that is what is happening to you.
I finally am able to get the screen scroll, however I can't get the screen scroll after level 7 into the graveyard
That screen is called "laggy woods" for a reason. If you don't do it quick enough, lots of lag can be generated making the scroll harder. Just take the scroll slower through the transition to make sure you make it to the other side.
This was really helpful. I do like the thumb roll after trying it out. Info on pixel 7 was extremely helpful for me. I didn't realize pixel 7 was tricking me when I was attempting the scroll. I have confidence that I can at least do this now. It's definitely a feel thing.
See my response in your other thread - it doesn’t look like you’re buffering anything. It just looks like you’re throwing an item and then shuffling into the correct position like normal before doing the 1 frame turn.
Timmi, beam_reach is doing a buffer similar to block clipping. It works as described, just much more limited application due to needing one of the boomerangs.
With the release of the new Nintendo "Game & Watch" which includes an official emulation port of the NES and Famicom "The Legend of Zelda" these versions are allowed for speedrunning purposes, because as far as we can tell, they play exactly the same as the NES versions (subject to change if other d
