Hey, I thought I'd try my hand at running this, and I thought I'd ask. Super Metroid doesn't require video verification, which is mentioned in their rules, but it's not mentioned here, so is it required to have a video?
Yes it is. In general, video is required for every game. I'm actually shocked that Super Metroid allows some runs to not have video. Maybe they get too many submissions or something. But they do require video for runs within a certain speed margin.
Anyway, video is required for every NES speedrun, as far as I know.
Well to be specific, they only require video if your record is at 45 minutes or less.
I would not mind if you send a time without video proof, as long as it is not below 1h15m? (Not sure)
But, this is only my opinion, I do not talk for all the players/moderators. I will ask the people in the StarTropics discord, it could be something we add to the rule, even if we decide to always require video proof.
If you decide to give StarTropics a try to speedrun, feel free to join the discord and ask away if you have any question!
I will try to reply to this thread again when an answer will be decided.
After some talks, it is very clear that mostly everyone want video proof for a run to be accepted. Even if the video quality is poor.
It has been added to the rules for clarification.
