We recently said to allow the "Hyrule Code" for runs, but as @SukeSJ said in the Changelog Forum Post
the decision we made with Hyrule Code and UCF was made extremely quickly by us moderators.
And it indeed was a hasty decision with little to no discussion. Now we have decided to, instead of removing it (as we planned) and moving it back to the Category Extension Leaderboard, we have made a sub-category for "Vanilla" and "Hyrule Code".
It felt a bit unfair to keep both in the same rankings, since console runners need to reset more to get the same result. As painful and annoying as that is, it wouldn't be fair to allow people to use the code and bypass the grind (even if we had a filter one could use).
*We hope that this change will satisfy both those who want to keep it old-school without any codes, and those who detest the RNG reset. As always, feedback is appreciated, so don't hesitate to contact us moderators if there is anything we can do to improve your experience on the leaderboard! Happy speedrunning! *
This leaderboard has seen less and less activity in recent times, and us moderators felt it was time to change things up a bit in order to make the rules a bit more accessible, easier to read, among general clarity in what is allowed and not. These are just the first steps, as we are now trying to talk more with the Stadium Discord and their runners, in order to try and reduce the split in our speedrunning communities.
[big]The following changes has been made[/big]
- Dolphin versions 5.0 and up until the most recent "Beta" builds are now allowed.
- The 3 extra emulator rules has been removed (FPS / Frame Counter / Show entire Emulator Window)
- Controller Adapter Polling Fix (aka 1000Hz Overclocking) is now allowed.
- Nintendont is allowed to load ISO's on consoles.
- Using the Melee HD Texture Pack is allowed.
Rules are ever changing and are never perfect, so if there's any feedback or wishes that you want to see in the future, feel free to let any of us on the moderator team know. Happy speedrunning and until next time!
