Concerns.

I like the 'idea' of having all of the release categories but yeah definitely, as you mentioned, you may never see a run for one of the releases so it becomes sort of a non issue.

Maybe just a forum post about release category requests is the best idea? That's what I would do, ST is definitely way out of hand with how many releases it has lol.

Good idea. I'll make a post on the Super Turbo board and get some feedback.

Yes, I agree with keeping things to a minimum for the sake of simplicity wherever possible. There are other ports of the game that exist like from the SNES Classic for instance that have already been asked about on previous threads such as this one https://www.speedrun.com/sf2hf/thread/cqcwx however that was a long time ago and it doesn't seem like anyone currently wishes to actually run that platform as far as I can tell – my suggestion here would be to add the game's associated ports to what can be selected under platform in the submission form however only give that platform an actual category tab once people have completed runs for it – this would allow people to submit them and pending review they can be moved appropriately.

It's also for simplicity's sake why I felt individual character categories are too much for the main board and would be better represented under ILs; the main board could be trimmed down to a single category per difficulty with all the appropriate runs at once if that's something you also agree is worth changing.

Additionally, thankyou Andy for finally clarifying your reasons for choosing Slowpoke as your moderator; now that you've explained them I think that's reasonable. It's not my or anyone else’s intention to nag you and I apologise if things come off that way it's just that when things get lost in translation after clarification has already been asked of course it's natural to bring it up again in order to address it.

Everyone here offering their thoughts on the concerns are already avid members of other Street Fighter speedrun communities on SRC and while some may not personally have times yet on this particular board they have gone to great lengths to share their feelings on why that is the case because of how unapproachable the SF2 leaderboards has felt to them until now which is why we're all so appreciative that you're receptive toward clarifying SF2's rules and cleaning up the leaderboards so thankyou for that. I myself already do have times on this board and other SF2 boards and I'm telling you that as a co-admin and a representative of the central discord hub that I am in agreement to these concerns – and it seems like you already agree too actually since changes are starting to be made for the good of everyone based on feedback they've given you - this should be enough to understand their position so please do not take it out on them.

You are free to have any personal opinion of the SF speedrun community that you would like - it is your choice to collaborate with the central discord hub of the SF speedrun community or not and we are not trying to force you to do so - this thread itself is a testament to that having been built upon the concerns of this community in order to help address them. You have never set foot in our community Discord or spoken to any of the other runners directly through our server so I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you may simply be misinformed as you seem to be about it's purpose as for to assume otherwise would be mere speculation and our discord does not encourage that kind of toxicity. Our doors – or if you'd prefer – my DMs on SRC are always open if you wish to clarify anything but I've explained the bulk of it in my first reply to this thread on page 1.

Take whatever time you need to make the appropriate adjustments to the rules and layout; we are not a raging mob, we are simply very eager to work together with you to rectify the concerns that have been mentioned and we are all once again very appreciative that progress is being made. Thank you

Happy to report that A1Major has accepted the role for our third mod spot and has been added to all five SF2 boards. He is active in running the games and is probably most famous for his various SoR series world records. He is an absolute beast of a player and highly respected within the speedrun community, so I'm thrilled to have him aboard!

Also just finished completely revamping the boards for World Warrior and Champions Edition, and they look MUCH improved. Hyper Fighting and New Challengers revamps will be completed relatively soon, too.

FINAL REPORT:

You asked for "Arcade" and "30th Anniversary" versions to be split into 2 separate categories. I gave you that.

You asked for a complete visual overhaul of the boards so the categories are ordered platform>difficulty>character. I gave you that.

You asked for the rules to be cleaned up and clarified with additional information. I gave you that.

You asked for acceptable emulators to be specified. I gave you that.

You asked for two additional qualified mods to be added to the games so we have a total of three. I gave you that.

After gathering information from you regarding the "Extra Speed" category, I have decided to keep it as is and treat it as a single bonus category for bonus speed largely due to accessibility reasons, the lack of popularity of those types of runs, and because I have a responsibility to make sure that the total number of categories doesn't spiral wildly out of control. There's just no sense in creating a ton of extra empty categories that will very likely go ignored. If for whatever reason I receive overwhelming demand from individual runners to add what would amount to a grand total of 72 additional extra speed categories across all platforms and difficulties for Super Turbo and 44 additional categories across both consoles and difficulties for Hyper Fighting, I may reconsider, but it should be readily apparent why I think that's an absurd request.

In the meantime, let's see how the community does with the already bloated number of individual categories we have and go from there.

In summary, I have heard and addressed your concerns, and I have implemented reasonable corresponding changes. Good day.
