Genuinely curious, what's driving y'alls interest in the game, cuz it's been hella popping lately LMAO
It's really neat to see people actually competing in a game i set up as mostly just a meme run of a childhood game. so I'm really curious, did y'all also play this game as a kid or what?
This game was THE game for me as a kid.
I remember that we picked it up at the local video store and I took it home and was amazed. Something about the fish, music, and locations really made this game feel captivating. When my rental period was up, me and my parents left to take the game back. On the way back I remember starting to bawl my eyes out because I didn't want to see the game go. I vividly remember hearing my parents call the rental store and ask if we could purchase it and they agreed. Needless to say, I still have that exact disc and it is special to me. I'd always loved fishing growing up but had never knew about what types of fish were in the ocean. This game felt like my way to discover and learn more about fishing.
I am also very happy to see interest in the game. I will be trying my hardest to fight for the top spot!
That's a cool story and I'm glad it has a happy ending! My dad bought me this game for my PS2 after I became obsessed with Big Bass Fishing. I remember running and getting him whenever I caught a new type of fish. So cool to see people coming together to play! Glad I posted that first run
Yo this is sick! I've meant to play this game casually years ago on my stream because I used to play this as a kid. I remember feeling excited discovering how to properly catch different fish without really a guide. I've waited so long and have become so ingrained in speedrunning (Spyro/Ape Escape/Crash), one of my viewers looked up the leaderboard to see Rob's run and now here we are.
Hopefully that spreadsheet I posted under resources comes in handy for everyone who wants to learn it, and to update with some new findings. My bud Dave (Kestrel) wanted to hop in for some friendly competition, so hopefully this lures in some more people to fish.

nah we don't have a discord server for the game, but pretty much everything we found is in the spreadsheet linked in the resources tab. the line weights/lures might not match up with what i do in my run since i was trying different combos out
