so why isnt it allowed to run on a psp emu it is allowed for secret agent clank and the emu is pretty accurate and it would save alot of money
I think emu has faster loads. I know it does for some games at least and I wouldn't be surprised if the PSP RAC games fall under that. Other than that, I don't truly know why they are banned other than being unofficial.
i'll run load tests on all the planets soon on all the planets with a ng+ file. i'll report back with the numbers. if they're in a good margin of error it should be good enough to have it unbanned.
As far as I am aware (I've reached up to Luna) loads seem faster than Disk (but that's to be expected) but compared to download I am unsure. I had a look at the Current WR run, and I did see the load into the Kallidon race appears to be faster on Emu than it does on PSP, though the ship loads don't look to be faster on Emu, though I am not too sure of this.
From my testing, I've been getting a constant 30fps when playing SM, though it sometimes drops to 15-20 during loads however this doesn't appear to be an issue.
Weezl has also said on Discord that apparently Poki loads 2 secs slower on Emu
i think u can edit some settings that can make it even more accurate as weezl said some of the loads arent faster
I noticed some differences on the emulator compared to the console, when changing planet on emulator there is 1 extra second, and the backup time and load the part is instantaneous
What do you mean by backup time and load the part? I assume it's Save and Reload, but then that's not really needed in SM runs anyway right?
Insta, you save/load on Quodrona ATB, Dayni Moon ATB, Kalidon ATB, Dreamtime ATB, and various points during 100%. PSP emulated menuing is instantaneous while the game loads about like a normal psp digital copy. you'd gain about 2-3ish seconds with emu s/l but lose it again to a slower ship loading segment.
so in essence, the ship loading would cancel out the time saved from Save/Load. Also I didn't really see an ATB run until yesterday so didn't know where they were. 100% isn't really a category I'm planning to do either (maybe not until there's a run of the category at least)
Just as an addition to this, I have managed to do a proper Any% run of SM. Maybe it'll help to see the differences between Emu and Regular PSP.
I, personally, wouldn't mind a 5 second penalty (that can be easily set up on LiveSplit) for using the emulator to compensate for the lag spike on M.O.O. Then again I suppose this would need to be agreed by other people as well. Either that or it could be possible to set up a sub-category (like is currently present with PS2 and PSP) for the emulator.
