Alternate Weapon Spawn Locations (NG)

For those of you who are running the NG categories, there's a few alternate and time-saving ways to get your weapons. When other weapon spawn locations are discovered, they will be added.

DAMAGED HANDGUN
- Original spawn location: Nightmare Sewers, slid to you under the fence in the blocked off passage before Lost Tape #1.
- Alternate location: Subway, in the trashcan next to the bench that has the Train Office key.
Since you don't need the gun immediately, it's faster to grab it on the way to the office key. Once you get to the bottom of the escalator, spam E and you'll grab the Damaged Handgun from the trash before swiping the key and making your way back up.

OLD KITCHEN KNIFE
- Original spawn location: Grand Bulim Avenue Station, last stall in restroom.
- Alternate location: Nezumi Testing Labs, in the potted plant in the lobby where you first enter.
Skipping picking up the knife in the train station gets you out of that section faster. The knife isn't a necessary weapon, but for those who want it for the later part of the game (crawling in the tunnels full of roaches), this method of obtaining it saves the most time during the run as you don't have to go out of your way to get it.

Great Old Beast in the Great Old Wood - Third Fight with The Siren

The Siren takes exactly 14 hits with the sledgehammer to kill. You can two-cycle the siren if you can get 7 hits every time you crush it with the door. You can apply the Double Hit glitch by pressing M or I twice during or after the swing animation and holding left click, which will allow you to swing the hammer faster to get more hits in (if you're using a gun, this does increase your fire rate). If you're successful with this glitch, you can possibly one-cycle The Siren by getting enough hits in one go.

Another way to speed up this fight is to stick to the side with the door switch when you trap the Siren. If you successfully trap and kill it while on the side with the switch, you can run to the tunnel that leads straight to the exit and wait there to shoot Childhood Memories soon as it comes out and then continue on your way. If you end up on the other side of the door that requires you to do a full run around, there is a small window of opportunity to clip through the door crushing the Siren after killing Childhood Memories - this is, however, inconsistent.

Run Glitches

This is a list for current bugs/gliltches/unintended features that are used during the run, and how to execute them. This is list is in no particular order of how you encounter them or use them. The list will be updated as new time-saving bugs are discovered or patched out.

- Furniture Clipping - 
This is mostly used during the laboratory section; enemies do not attack when you are clipped into static objects, such as chairs, walls, tables, etc. Clipping is easy, as some of these static objects you can walk into without much effort. You'd be using this during the doll head section in the lab. Simply position yourself inside the table that has the vice holding the head and spam the interact button until you have the key. This is also useful for the Escape section as you can clip into some of the wire fencing to avoid taking damage from puke projectiles.

- Jump Glitch: Sledgehammer/Shotgun -
This glitch is inconsistent, however can make for great time save in sections like the subway with the train enemies. To activate the glitch, attack and press W at the same time with either the sledgehammer or the shotgun equipped. If you can manage to get the glitch to work, it can be used to hop over the closed off subway gates so that you don't have to pick up the note to get the trains to start moving out of the way.

- Turbo Man - 
This is specifically for the first enemy you encounter in the game, which is the smiling man in the sewers. Running into the section backwards will have a chance to cause the sewer man to zoom in front of you and freeze, allowing you to one-shot him with the sledgehammer (provided you tap his noggin) and continue on your way without delays. Even if you can't get him to turbo sprint to the front of you as you enter the section backwards, he always shows up behind you no matter where you look, so having him show up near the exit of this room still saves you time as you can just kill him and run forward.

- Speed Crawling -
This will require you to have a controller (there are still discussions as whether or not to allow third party applications to emulate a controller for those who don't have one, but currently they are not allowed). This is entirely optional to use, but it does save a massive amount of time.
Holding W and up on the analog stick at the same time will allow you to run full speed in sections that force you to walk, such as the dog walking scene at the beginning of the game (can be skipped entirely in NG+) or when you're going through tunnels. This also works when playing as the dog later on.
As funny as this may sound, it's actually recommended to use your foot on the controller so that you can use both hands on the mouse and keyboard. For those who run with the controller, use your elbow to rest on W as you navigate tunnels.

- Double Hit/Faster Fire Rate -
There is a glitch that you can use to increase your swing/fire rate with either a melee or ranged weapon. You can do this by pressing M or I twice during or after the swing/fire animation and holding left click. Successfully executing this glitch will allow you to double hit or shoot faster. This glitch is also currently inconsistent, however with more practice, this can be very useful during sections that require you to fight for your life, such as the third Siren encounter.
