Hey all! I want to talk about the "no buying scrolls" rule when it comes to individual pyramid runs. As it stands, runners cannot buy scrolls before entering each pyramid, and I understand that this is intended to prevent grinding before the run. However, I think this rule will eventually lead to worse mid-run grinding.
Everyone knows how great it can be to get certain scrolls during a run (e.g. elevator and compass); these can cut times significantly by eliminating some rng or skipping floors entirely. I'm afraid that eventually we'll get to a point where good gameplay won't define who has the best times but rather who randomly got these scrolls during their run. I'd much rather reset 5 seconds into a run because I didn't buy the right scroll rather than resetting 5 minutes into a run because an enemy/chest didn't drop the scroll that I needed.
I could be completely wrong about this, and I'd love everyone's feedback on this. Maybe we should have a separate category for IL runs that bans scrolls altogether?
