Sorry, guys, but can you explain me why emulator runs are banned in this game? I have no PS2, but i'd like to speedrun the game.
The reason emulator is banned is that PCSX2 is nowhere near accurate enough to console to allow. The FPS is inconsistent, the slowdown / speed up is inconsistent and loading times are massively reduced. Generally speaking, PCSX2 is an emulator specifically designed for casual play, and not for hosting speedruns on a board directly designed for comparing and competing in them.
(The primary method of timing for this game is RTA, as an old runner called Rudy had found that the IGT is simply not accurate. So for this reason, because of the unpredictable slowdown/speedup of the emulator and fluctuating FPS, it is best not to ruin the integrity of the boards by allowing an emulator that is honestly not fit for this game to be speedrun on. Here, anyway.)
Sorry, and I hope this answered your question.
Thanks for reply. It's comprehensible. But is it bad to make an addition category (misc) for emulator runs ? I don't think that it will break the whole leaderboard. I see that not really big amount of people has console, it's a bit difficult to get one. Sorry, if i'm not right.
The game is pretty inaccessible in my area. No local shops have it and it is very expensive to order online. Emulator category doesn't seem like a horrible idea.
Hello,
Due to recent discoveries regarding the "AI Glitch", we have decided to add the following rules for New Game runs :
- "AI Glitch" is banned from the "Ending A - New Game" category
- New Game runs have to be done without a memory card, this is to make sure that New Game runs are legit and
