Just posting some tips on how to use the ticket printer warps (or at least how I use them in my latest run).
After you get the ticket printer from Charlie in Year 2, you can start warping around. Get it out of your inventory, make sure not to touch any keyboard keys, and from there:
- Click anywhere* (some spots will not work) to start walking/running - on a transition arrow is what you want in most cases.
- Then press your “Use” key (I have it bound to spacebar). This will open the ticket printer interface; you don’t have to touch anything here.
- Then press ESC to get out of the ticket printer interface.
No need to stress and spam this click > use > esc sequence (well, spamming is potentially faster but also much more crash prone in my experience). As for pace, a sped-up “We Will Rock You” is a good starting point.
Sometimes nothing will happen, but in most cases, Manny will now either have:
- instantly moved to the new screen (if you clicked a transition arrow) or
- moved a small distance, or
- gone invisible or out of bounds
Thing is, Manny will behave differently in each screen, and it also seems your position in the current screen could affect what happens here. Anyway, here’s how I go about it in my run:
Piano bar This is a two-level room, meaning you can warp to an invisible upper level where you can run around. You can potentially run to the hallway faster from there. I just try to slide up the stairs and press the inventory key here to get the printer ready for the next part.
Coat Check Running is likely faster than warping here.
Outside Calavera Cafe You can warp to an upper level and then run out of the screen, bypassing the stairs. In this one, you can do the warp sequence anywhere pretty much, then after you are out of bounds, keyboard run LEFT (keep holding). Now at the “red arrow” screen, keep holding run left for a bit. Then do the warp sequence 2-3x on the lower-left transition arrow (if you don't run the extra bit you’ll get back to the previous screen). Alternatively, you can spam warp the normal route, like 3x on each transition arrow.
Elevator Kiosk This is a type 2 screen (see above) where you can move small distances. I don’t think it’s a time save here so I just run down normally.
Police Building / Outside the Morgue Warp 3-4x on the arch / up arrow (you will be invisible after the first). Then 1-2x right arrow. Then 2x on the right arrow (between action and inventory button in the bottom right).
Bridge Warp on the right arrow once (between action and inventory buttons in the bottom right) then click the arrow once.
Security Station Warp 3-4x on the right arrow, then once more on the right arrow to go down to the cat track sequence.
Hallway Outside Stables You can instantly warp enter the stables/cat litter thing here (right arrow). And you can also instantly warp through this screen down to the stairway.
Track Lower Entrance You can instantly warp down to the small bridge and in the same way, up the stairway.
Docks You have to wait for a bit entering here after the previous warp. After that, run past or turn away from the lever before you can warp again. Warping here will make you invisible and position you in the middle. So then I just click to continue running left. This is a weird one and you will return here if you warp from the right/lower docks screen.
Dock Hub Warp 3-4x on the left arrow. You can also instantly warp up to the Blue Casket.
Dry Docks From here I warp up, then right past the bees. You can get stuck in the loading zone here though.
Lighthouse Warping here will put you out of bounds. I warp 4x to get right up to lighthouse and then slide the key.
Back to Calavera Cafe (Lupe) Inventory slide the printer after the elevator. Back at the “red arrow” screen, warp once. You will now be out of bounds on an invisible upper level. From here, you can keyboard run UP, and after a couple of seconds, you should be right up at the entrance. After receiving the jacket and leaving, repeat the earlier warp sequence down.
Lower Docks (after tattoo parlor) After running up the gangway, warping will make you invisible / out of bounds. Then just click anywhere once, and you'll be back at the upper Docks screen.
Lower/Right Docks (with the blimp) Another cool thing - but not used in the run because it's slower - warping from here will put you at the usual spot in the upper screen, but you can actually control Manny from here. So you can keyboard run RIGHT, cross the small bridge out of bounds, and then click anywhere to end up right at the track entrance.
