So the TAS uses two wall clips at the spikes to get to the end, but the previous TAS used a clip at the yellow platform for Match. What I think (and haven't pulled off) is that only Match needs to clip and Book dies to throw her, that way you don't need to worry about Book clipping. After that, you still need a frame-perfect jump and getting to the end without grabbing the HPRC. I don't know if this is possible, and the closest I got was Match clipping but dying because I moved too late. You should try to move at the moment Match reaches the bottom block of the platform. So yeah, this is my 34 human theory. Degen may be faster, but this is just an attempt for discovery.
This strat is possible! I used it in the following video. As for if it's faster or not, that's a great question. I believe that if it were to be faster, the clip would have to be done without a setup, which makes everything a whole lot tougher. Maybe I'll do some testing to see whether or not it's possible. Great idea regardless!
People have gotten setupless clips before. And also I am gonna do attempts for 34 clip now
Okay so I did some testing, and with the setup... well... it's really close. The fastest time I've been able to get is a 6.9, although that was with the setup and a corner clip on the frame-perfect jump (it would be faster to not have the corner clip happen, though there's not really a way to control that). I would guess that if the corner clip is avoided, it's possible to barely squeak out a record with the setup and with perfect play.
It should almost definitely be possible to save time with this. The clip setup that KorZen uses, while consistent, is much slower than the classic double settle setups that I've been using. As a side note, it is not actually possible to wall clip without some sort of setup; you may have been thinking of my 6.0 second level 31 IL which simply achieved the required subpixels before I could land on the yellow blocks. There's also single settle clips which are about as fast as a clip setup can be for a human, but they're super precise and I've only ever been able to do them a couple times.
Anyway, I've been able to get double settle clip setups fast enough to save time on level 34, I've just never completed the rest of the level fast enough after getting the clip (often because I paused). A while ago I decided to test if a clip could save any time by making a TAS out of full speed input recordings. The TAS came out to a 6.0 which leaves plenty of room to lose small amounts of time without losing the record. I haven't put attempts into the level in a while, but I can certainly start again when I have the time.
If you'd like to examine this TAS for yourself, I'll leave the input string here so you can paste it into the TAS version (https://www.infernity.dev/HTML5b/) to play it back.

Got a 6.6 RTA with video. Definitely some room for improvement, but it shows that it is humanly possible to save time using the clip. I'll probably do some more attempts at some point to get the time down even further using a more precise, but I think slightly faster way to get Match up while bonking on the side, and also try to throw the smaller HPRC before recovering. Basically, just following the TAS more closely.
LETS GOOOOOOOOO also i took the start of my 6.7, added the hprc throw and got more optimal movement in general, coming to a 6.2!
Idk if you've thought about it Miggle, but you should consider joining the 5b discord. We talk a lot about speedrunning there and it seems like you're pretty interested in all of it!
i don't have discord. Also this strat is RTA viable (for me, at least) and considering its faster than degen and easier, this is actually insane to work.
