Hello community members,
In recent times we've been discussing emulators. This has been a controversial subject and has had different arguments on both sides.
As a temporary solution, we are going to ban emulators until more research can be done on them. We as a community have to know what is being changed with the game, what different emulators do to the game, and how we can best utilize them once they are finalized.
For now, any and all emulator runs are going to be rejected and can be resubmitted/reviewed when the research has been completed in the near future.
Thank you to @fknMirky for the suggestion on this problem and I wish the rest of you luck on all of your future runs.
Hopefully, emulators will be finalized within the near future.
Sincerely,
~Marcus Raxal
Sadly, we haven't really had any updates regarding emulators. The overall state of them isn't really used in our game since we all use the GOG/Steam version of the game already. If there ever was a time when those versions became unavailable then maybe we could talk about implementing emulators again.
I would like to use RELIVE as I am on a Linux system and it's more convenient.
So far a haven't seen any differences between the RELIVE and the regular version of the game.
Just some extra crashes and freezing when holding the skip cutscene button.
I know the topic of RELIVE will come up more as it nears completion but we can not allow something like this to be on the main leaderboards. At least not yet, if a time does come when it is completed a discussion will be had to allow it to be used. But, at the moment, we can't allow something like RELIVE to be used with our games, sorry!
Could RELIVE potentially be its own system? I understand not having it be counted with the PC leaderboards at the moment, but I figured I’d suggest it as a compromise for those who are unable to run the PC release natively.
Be well!
RELIVE is fanmade source, that is not really finished yet. For an example RNG does work differently compared to the orginials. It's pretty good for casual playthroughs but it is not really ready to be an official category on the boards yet. :)
