Hi. Just got into running Cuphead yesterday and was interested to know the community's opinion on mapping the same action to more than 1 button.
I would normally count this as advantage, but CupHead is exceptional since you HOLD a single button to fire (unlike Contra), and current mapping configs allow some interesting stuff anyway.
I ask because I use Hori Fighting Commander (https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Fighting-Commander-Officially-Licensed-Microsoft/dp/B01MSEPQ55/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1508100719&sr=8-3&keywords=hori+fighting+commander) which has native remap capability (I can reassign R1 to be a 2nd button for weapon swap via the controller's remap button).
This can also be done using Joy Remapping Software to have like R1 be mapped to a random keyboard letter on a non-Hori/non-remappable controller.
And finally, if someone was motivated, could utilize a keyboard & controller simultaneously (possibly practical if using an external numpad cleverly) in vanilla menu options.
I'm not looking for advantage, and won't do this on any run I'd submit unless approved here prior, but if I can avoid blowing my wrists out spamming L1 for hours on end, I'm all for it.
Thank you for reading.
