Watched Firebat's Beginner Any% tutorial and took condensed notes on the route and any tricky rooms I might have needed a reference for, then had that up during the run on a separate screen. Then I did basically what oase28 did: add on more splits after each run. So, first would be File Select > Eastern Palace, then File Select > Desert Palace, etc. That probably was overboard but this is my first speedgame so I was trying to be diligent.
If I were to roll back time, I'd probably just take my notes and then start pounding out runs. You're going to learn far quicker from repetition than from study.
Is the SNES Classic emulator more performant than other emulation? I was speedrunning this on my SNES Classic and was getting the timing down on the Desert Palace boss pretty consistently, but once I moved to my PC (so I could stream/record a run) it felt much laggier. I'm using snes9x 1.54 on PC.
Same question, but for a SNES Classic modified with hakchi2.
