Thanks for the notice on SNES Donut Plains 2. I updated the rules to have it removed.
@cowmaam I updated the Item Rain and 200cc category rules to allow an exception for fast menu transitions. They are CTGP exclusive IGT-timed categories, so I see no reason not to allow it for them.
No, just follow the rules
@Ga_Sprite_PowKk might want to double check the IGT on this
It's a little difficult to compare this game to GTAV in terms on length since it's less than half as long. We have segment categories in other WD games, but Legion is difficult to break into segments due to the parallel mission structure.
In my opinion, the only consistent midpoint is after completing Zero Tolerance + Family Business, which is about 1h27m in WR. Even then it's not a great candidate for a true run segment, since it would likely save time by using a different route than full Any% (operatives, upgrades, fast travel unlocks, etc.).
All bureaus could be an interesting run, and it wouldn't have the caveats of segments.
You can start on any track
Speedrun.com has just had a bug with displaying Game Time on the site, and haven't fixed it for 5 years. Splits.io doesn't show milliseconds for runs longer than 20 minutes, so I added an import feature (top right button) on https://claabs.github.io/mkwii-igt-calc/ to easily view/edit splits.io submissions.
All runs are submitted with the version they were run on. The leaderboard will show the fastest time of any version, which I feel is valid since it's possible to downgrade versions with CTGP. You can also just filter by version to see who is fastest for a certain track set version.
Just from raw game footage, I have no way of telling whether an emulator run is TASed or not.
Some ideas I had that could ensure an emulator run wasn't TASed:
- An input recording file showing 0 rerecords doesn't help, as it can easily be edited and the file isn't signed.
- Showing the Dolphin input display alone doesn't help at all either
- The status bar in windowed mode shows whether Dolphin is running a TAS playback, but it can be faked with simple video editing
- A controller cam, with some sort of splicing prevention (e.g. a running timer in frame, or some sort of constant motion between tracks) could work
The only realistic idea I have high confidence in is likely a combination of those (input display + hand cam + window capture + livestream session), which isn't too outrageous if you compare to other games (https://www.speedrun.com/smb1/run/z0owxg4z).
P.S. If anyone can find a console verification video of a dynamic-RNG Wii game like MKWii's VS mode, let me know. I've yet to see one myself.
In the case of this run: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/run/y4q1kjnm it did work. Speedrun.com just doesn't show game time splits properly. It never really has. You can still click the "Powered by splits i/o" to view it properly.
I've requested they fix it multiple times, but it's closed source and low priority, so it's likely to never happen...
CTGP uses Ultra UnCut (http://wiki.tockdom.com/wiki/Ultra_UnCut) which patches ultra shortcuts, so you shouldn't have to worry about it.
The rules are meant to be similar to the Grand Prix 150cc gamemode, but in VS mode. In Grand Prix 150cc, the CPUs are set to hard.
It would be nearly identical to the 32 Tracks time trials category: https://www.speedrun.com/mkwextracategories#Time_Trials
It doesn't make much sense to duplicate it.
Yeah, I was given control of this leaderboard since the original mod left the community.
It looks like there's shorter categories with 21 and fewer tracks. I think the rules are just bugged and they all say "Play all 352 tracks in alphabetical order". I'll fix that.
Yes. Here's the settings you should use: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/thread/0o11h
Check the rules or the resources. This is listed: https://claabs.github.io/mkwii-igt-calc/
