Hi there, i just picked up this game in a collection and I wanted to give this a shot. However, under windows 10 it doesnt seem to be working at all! And also I cant really find any Information on the internet regarding how to get it to work. Anyway, i saw that the last run was done about 8 months ago, so there must be a way to run the game. I know there is a steam version, but i cant get my hands on the files used to patch that game. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
Hey everybody,
i know i'm late to the party, but i only could start today when the steam early access released. Plus i gotta work and all, so i dont have as much time as i'd like, but i wanted a thread where everyone interested could post things they have found. Mostly as a means of replicating for others, as well as a jumping off point for people further into the game. Anyway, first off, i found this OoB in the skull cave (first cave you get into really early on) but i couldnt work a way further in, but i'm sure if someone has the time to look there, it might be of help.
You actually dont need to farm any xp. You can just use the infinite Skillpoint-glitch found by Eydas :)
Binding C to mousewheel down was my next idea. i just didnt come around to test it yet. I think i might have had problems with this because i was running at a very high framerate, so hitting a specific set of frames is pretty hard ^^
hmm, somehow i couldnt reproduce that on PC and the newest patch. Can someone confirm if this works on PC?
Fyi, when i was using the 753.2 via Beta-Signup everything worked perfectly :)
i saw that he had it running, thats why i figured it worked :D anyway, you know if artistic was on the beta build during his run?
Hey,
this being the first pc game i speedrun, i could use some help setting this up :)
I've found the option to download the asl file inside Livesplit and ive also configured the Scriptable Autosplitter to use said file, but when i go into the game, then Start the timer, the timer sorta freezes directly. Its hard to explain, it times for around 0.5 seconds, then nothing happens. I also checked "Compare against Game Time" on the context-menu, but it doesnt help :/ If anyone could help me with that, that help would be greatly appreciated :)
thanks Brass :) Regarding the FPS issue then. Since i can hit the 100 fps reliably, i can just cap it via Monitor-settings and V-sync and just show the fps via Afterburner, right?
Hey everyone, after a year i finally got my copy of RotTR and even though i'm still in my "real" playthrough, i was looking over the leaderboards / rules, just to "prepare" for the eventual speedrun (cant really watch one tho since i dont want to be spoiled: /) :D Anyway, my question is regarding the 100 FPS MAX rule. Why is that in place? The last two games ive actively speedrun were Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider 2013. For Fallout 4 a FPS-Limit of 60 was established, because above that your character moved slightly faster and in TR2013 the motto basically was "more is better". Especially since you needed a very high framerate to do some strats used in the best times i.e. to really compete anyway. As far as i could tell (again, without spoiler-fear) there seems to be no hard reason for this limit, which makes it seem sorta arbitrary especially since the game can run at 180 fps+ without even having to leave fullscreen (for me). If someone could help me with that, that would be great :) Also, if you want the FPS shown in the vid, do i have to use some special program, or can i just use MSI Afterburner, which i use anyway for a more accurate view into performance?
thanks everyone :) yeah, it took me quite a while but im slowly getting the hang of it :) Shooting earlier realy helped
downgraded in terms of speedrunning? i was actually planning on looking into bs1 and 2 as well, any link to read up on what to expect? As for the distance, i think that has been it. it took a while but then i finally managed to pull it off. yet no idea how to do it consistently
Hey there,
since the game recently came out on Ps4, i thought i'd give it a go and was working through the Any% tutorial + having a look at the current WR, but for some reason, i just cant get that damn death-warp on Slate to work :/ Does it maybe require a higher framerate than suicide #1? It seems like i just cant get it. If anyone would have an additional tip, that would really help me. For reference i made a video of how my approaches normally look:
Thanks for your help in advance :)
just wanna say quick, that i'm currently extremely busy IRL and dont have internet all the time, but i'll be more active in a few weeks. Sorry for the problems
just fyi, it isn't at all hard to pause your timer for console runs ;-) i've been doing it since day one. I just never bothered to enter the run because they cant compare with pc, so i'd love to see a console Any% category, even though people will argue, that you can just sort after platform. Anyway, last week my HDD died, so my run is gone now anyway xD But if we get a category, i'd definetly enter a new run in there :)
will try it later :) i've noticed the color changing when i clip and i thought it might be an idication but it crashes just as often. but i will try it with the looking away method and report back. Thanks for your tip :) Of 30 started runs so far i've been able to complete like 3 xD
hi hillboy :) I can tell you that you have only 2 options for doing this:
- Delete -> Reinstall, cancel all patch downloads. This however, will get you back to 1.0
- Turn off auto download for patches. It will still bother you when you start up the game, but if you cancel the dl before it installs when you leave the game, you will be fine. However, it is not possible to restore another version other than 1.0. And on 1.0 you wont be able to get the Greentechs genetics cover slide completely without your game crashing
ok, so i've got a relatively consistent set-up for that wall jump. however, that submarine clip in chapter 3 (not 4 how i believed xD) is still bugging me. If anyone has any tips for that, that would be great :)
agree ^^ IMO an easy category wouldnt be worth it. The game is mostly run on Normal, so I dont see reason to change that now. Only a few do even run it on hard, so i cant see a spot for easy
Hey there,
i'm sorry i need to post here again and ask you for help, but since it worked so well the first time, i thought i might give it another shot :D Anyway, so this time (hopefully the last thing i'll need help with before i feel confident enough to run this seriously) i need help with figuring out what to do early in chapter 2. So, after we come to the area where we need to climb and push down that huge rock, i saw runners go into a corner and then doing a weird double-jump to grab a ledge and climb up there. I've been able to do this, but its extremely inconsistent for me and i cant really figure out what exactly we're trying to do. At first i thought we'd try to get a jump of the right wall, but then it also looks like nathan does the double jump off something inside the wall. I know i'm not doing a great job of explaining here, so if it helps i can make a small video :D
Anyway, the other thing that keeps bugging me is clipping into the submarine. About 8/10 times i do that, i try to wait for the area to load but then i take a step to my right and the game crashes. Any tips for that? Those two are the main reason i only got a 1:05 on my first timed run, so i though i put the timer aside until i figure those two parts out.
Thanks in advance for any help, its greatly appreciated :D
