I'd go and submit a run if it's in the US. I don't care where, but I'm not too interested in traveling to Canada.

The OP has been modified to reflect the new venue for MWSF 2016 since the old venue is going to be torn down before the event. We are now at the Doubletree Bloomington!

Skelekat: Please forward me some information about that program. I'd love to get that setup on the PC setup we'll be using for the marathon.

Sleepwalker_92: We (being me and whoever else that helped out last year is available to help me with it (SecksWrecks, Ouro, Josemite, HeeHeex2, etc)) will be sifting through the submissions after the new submission closing date of April 30th. If your game is on Steam, I'll buy it on my personal account so we can have it available for you, or, if it works for you, you could bring your own personal setup to play it on as well. We did this last year with the Sonic DX run from Kinkycadence, so I'm not too worried about if we'll be able to do it again or not this next event.

Update on component capture: Ordered in the Avermedia Component to HDMI converter. Going to give that a try with my Composite and Component consoles, and if it works nicely, I will definitely be trying to integrate it into the tech setup for MWSF.

Alright, I'll try to address these to the best of my abilities, since this is a discussion we are still currently needing to have as a team. I've got some ideas on how we can go about tech this year, but I have yet to communicate or put them into writing.

1.) Our current tech setup utilizes an Avermedia Live Gamer Portable for HD capture, and Dazzle DVC100 for SD capture. To be completely transparent, I have misplaced my Component cable input for the LGP, and I will be looking at getting this replaced before the event. If that ends up not being possible, I'll make sure to work out a solution with you to get Component capture to work.

2 and 3.) Bring in anything that you feel you will help bring you the greatest success in showcasing your runs. With experience of running MWSF once already, and doing some volunteering with SGDQ and more research on my own, the workflow of our tech setup will be built with modularity in mind. Like I mentioned before, this isn't something I have communicated with the rest of the team, and I apologize to those involved in planning as well as those that have these questions, but these will be addressed before our submission closure date so we can assure a successful and well thought out marathon for our attendees of not only MWSF, but the speedrunning community and 2D Con (our gracious host) as a whole.

From the venue itself, the Mall of America and an Ikea are within walking distance. Since it is in June, it'll be perfect weather to go out to these places. Within the Mall of America, there are various amusement/shopping options, and on top of that, there's also the Minnesota Valley Natural Wildlife Refuge and Fort Snelling nearby if you're interested in checking those out.

The venue isn't in the Twin Cities proper, but there is a lightrail station that heads directly into the cities from the Mall of America which allows for exploration of the cities if that's something you'd like to do on your own or with other people at the event.

I feel if we went forth with renting a room at DanzQueen's university, using this layout would be pretty decent.

If we're given the ability to shuffle some stuff around, I'm sure we could integrate the practice area into the marathon room as well.

I commend you for finding all of these new skips and such, but what is the purpose of creating a whole new category when the OOBs are only creating minor sequence breaks? It's not like Risky's Revenge, where you skip a large portion of the game, so can we please remove this category until the game reaches that point?

There's no need for superfluous categories in such a young game. All we're doing is confusing newcomers by discerning a difference between the old Any% route and the new one.

Who's the tech guy for ESA? If they've got their eyes on this thread, is it cool if I pick their brains about some of the technical aspects of marathon audio?
