MelonDS is the main emulator used for most Pokémon speedruns, because it emulates the Nintendo DS quite well. (It's still not perfectly accurate ; it gives emulator runners a time advantage of several tens of seconds on a 4-hour run.)

Desmume was used in the past, but it's not designed to replicate DS timing accurately, which is important for speedrunning. That’s why both emulators are not grouped in the same category.

To answer your question, i recommend going with melonDS ! ;)

I agree with it, i'd like to start the training of ROSA, but it's annotying if I can't submit my runs ... !

We should allow any version of Citra ! :)
