Hello. I would just like to point out that currently our rules don't allow you to re-launch the game mid run, so the strat used in the beginning of Ace's video would not be allowed anymore. If this rule should still apply is arguable, since I think the dev fixed the problem we have with it.
Also, I personally find this strat to be way easier than the one Ace used (4:25), so try it out and see what you prefer
I'm dumb I was thinking there are 31 buttons in the game.
The actual completion rate of the route would be the amount of buttons there are divided by 3 + 4.66% I think.
Another thing we could do that probably isn't possible to do on speedrun.com either is to not look at time at all and only submit completion rate
I've now made a new route and with this route you should be able to get 15% completion, I believe this is very close to the limit of what a human can do. I think this is probably how we would want the best low% runs to be, but if we put the limit at this, then it would be way to hard to even finish a run I think.
I doubt this would be possible to do on speedrun.com, but would you guys think it would be cool if you were able to submit your run and get it accepted as long as it was under 25%, but if someone had a lower completion rate than you they would automatically get a higher spot on the leaderborads? For instance if someone beats the game with 25% completion in 3 minutes they would get a lower spot on the leaderboards than someone with a 15% completion rate that completed the game in 7 minutes.
I also haven't done any testing to see if 21% is actually the lowest we get with current strats, but if I've counted correctly that should be correct
I agree that it should probably be lower, however with current strats the lowest I think is possible is 21% (unless you do pillar skip, but I highly doubt anyone will ever be able to do that in a run) and the 21% route would be incredibly similar to the 25% route, except you would have to swim a lot more. If we found a way to skip hitting 1 more block this would bring the completion rate down to 20% which would completely change the route because we wouldn't be able to touch the ground at the third button, and we would have to walk around and do the fancy platform jump at the 9th and 19th split. If we find a way to skip one more block, I think the limit should be brought down to 20%, however until then it should be kept at 25%.
I don't think making the rule the lowest% possible would make sense, because we could find a way to skip more blocks after people do runs, and that would technically make all runs performed before the new skip is found not follow the rules. I believe making segmented runs with the lowest% possible that won't be uploaded to the leaderboards could be very interesting though.
I'm pretty sure they're both the same speed, except you could end up losing some speed if you slide for too long. Basically it's just an unnecessary risk
