Here's a quick quide on how to get the Max Payne Load Remover working for you in LiveSplit!

It's actually rather simple, first right click on your Max Payne splits and click on Edit Splits: http://i.imgur.com/Tyg0VH6.png

From here change the Game Name to Max Payne. Now you should see the option to activate the Load Remover, so click Activate: http://i.imgur.com/5O0Bmzn.png

Click OK and then Right Click your splits again, this time click Edit Layout: http://i.imgur.com/3hOMC7c.png

Now click on Layout Settings: http://i.imgur.com/2yYfr4L.png

Next Click the tab that says Timer: http://i.imgur.com/JGjSxOl.png

Lastly, click the drop down arrow for Timing Method and change to Game Time. http://i.imgur.com/niHodXo.png

Click OK twice to exit the Layout Editor. Be sure to save your Layout!

Now you are ready to play!

I am posting this in the event, no matter how improbable, someone comes along and wants to take a stab at the Individual Chapter runs. Here are some specifics for the current rules, in addition to rules already provided:

  • All weapons / ammo / painkillers must be brought over from preceding levels.

This means that developer keys and cheats to give Max full arsenal with max ammo and painkillers is not allowed. The reason for this, is that specific weapons at specific chapters are not normally obtainable. (For instance, using a Sniper Rifle during Part 1 Chapter 1 - Roscoe St Station.) Even if a weapon is obtainable from a previous chapter, runners should not refill ammo prior to starting their attempts as well.

However,

it is acceptable to use developer keys/ cheats to refill Max's health and bullet time prior to starting your attempts.

Hello. First off let me say that this board looks like a mess. I am proposing the following:

Move all existing categories into two categories:

Category Name: Story Mode This is the category that is already represented on this leader board, however we should consolidate into one category and have the separate difficulties be variable inside of it. The name should either be Story Mode or Any% whichever is more agreeable. Still, the "%" should not follow the name of the difficulty, since the difference in difficulty does not demand a different %.

Category Name: New York Minute Hardcore This second category will be exactly what the name implies. Starting from a fresh NYM Hardcore and completing all the way through with 0 deaths.

These proposed changes will not affect any previously submitted runs or rules, but rather give this leaderboard more structure. Post thoughts.

The primary purpose of this strat is to skip the interview at Central Police Station with the sailor, James Jessop, and the entire trip to the Bus Station. I am not sure if this strat would be too viable in a category other than 5 Star because essentially what you are skipping altogether is: -Going to Central for Jessop interview -Conducting Jessop interview -Going to Bus Depot -Tracking down Bus 249 to speak with driver

During this entire sequence you grab 2 clues which are thought to be necessary for 5 star rank - the Bus Route Map and the updated 'Victim Last Seen' from the bus driver.

So the way it works is to visit the Hobo Camp BEFORE going to the Taraldson house at 43 Emerald St. The hobo you are looking for won't be around. Now, continue with the case as normal. After leaving the Taraldson residence, KGPL will notify you through the scanner that the hobo has been seen at the camp.

Continue on to Baron's Bar and do the chase scene with Richard Bates. After you catch him and do an interview - do NOT use any phone, this is the time you will be informed that Jessop is at Central Station. Instead, get into your police vehicle and Rusty will put out the APB on the taxi from there.

After speaking with the taxi driver continue to the Hobo Camp and confront Ackerman. Afterwards, return to Central and you can conduct the final interview with Ackerman and end the case. Even more interesting is that this interview will only have 2 questions instead of the normal 3 - Cole will not have the option to ask about Ackerman's alibi, but not getting this question does not affect 5 star ranking.

Following this the end Case Report will look like: Clues: 17/17 Questions: 12/12 Case Notes: The bus driver who delivered Theresa to her death might have like a chance to testify. Rating: 5 Stars

What's interesting about this is that you will have only picked up 15 clues following this route, but the game credits you for the clues you could not have possibly gotten from skipping the bus depot. Also, there are only 12 questions total because without Jessop's interview (4 questions total) and Ackerman's missing question of his alibi.

Now if you were to have Cole use a phone to put an APB out on the taxi, you would have been informed of Jessop waiting at the station, and neglecting him would net you a 4 star rating with the same case notes. However, through this route KGPL never gets the chance to notify you of this witness therefore allowing you to skip it entirely.

Would it be possible to split the 100% leaderboard to differentiate between runs done on legit hardware vs. emulator?

Because use of IGT is unrealistic for 100% runs and now a run is done on both official hardware and emulator, I think the leader board should be split to allow the category more legitimacy. If I were to submit my emulated run there would always be an intended asterisk there as to the difference of times. Also, allowing both runs to share the same board discourages runners on legit hardware from continuing to run the category.

This allows RTA times to be more accurate and prevents emulated runs from being preferred while still being an option.

Most people that care about this already know about it but it should be posted here anyways.

Pretty much as long as you disarm the bomb in the car, starting R2B a second time causes the mission to pass. Saves the time and worry of going to Pay N Spray and parking the car, allowing you to start Bullion Run right off the bat. Great for 100%, would need a better way to do it for AM than the way I did it in the video.

Recently did a 100% playthrough on console and found that one of the most frustrating differences was the low rate at which the “rare” Portland Import/Export vehicles spawned even in areas such as Fort Staunton, Rockford, and the surrounding roads by the stadium where Buses, Flatbeds, Trashmasters, and Securicars are usually plaguing the street. During the 20 minutes it took me to finally find a Bus, I started to wonder and question my own superstitions and tricks that I use in 100% runs to get Portland spawns for these vehicles. Basically, I am asking what concrete knowledge do we actually have about how the game dictates which vehicles will spawn.

Location?

I want to say that this is almost proven. This logic exists for gang cars and there isn’t a reason for it to not apply to all vehicles. For instance, a Flatbed is more likely to spawn in Chinatown vs. Saint Marks. Same goes for Shoreside I/E favoring Cedar Grove vs Pike Creek vehicles.

Time of Day?

As far as I know, a lot of people recognize this factor but have differing opinions about how individual vehicles work. There have been specific reports on Wikis such as “Mr. Whoopee entering Rockford tunnel between 1600-1800” which are presented as factual. Do such specific conditions exist which could guarantee other cars?

Does driving X cause Y to spawn?

For instance, does driving a Rumpo raise the probability of a Pony spawning? Also, does driving a gang car in another gang territory lower probability of more gang cars? This is almost specifically directed towards the ongoing difficulty in AM to get a Diablo car while driving the Yakuza Stinger around the Red Light District/Hepburn Heights

Specific Missions?

This is my personal superstition which is based off this highlight: This COULD be coincidence but I have had similar and frequent occurrences during these missions: Don’t Spank Ma Bitch Up Turismo Triads and Tribulations Chaperone This potentially could be due to time of day seeing how my Portland pace is fairly consistent.

Lastly, do ALL of these factors work together? Driving Ambulance + Chinatown + 23:00 = High Probability of Flatbed

I may just be grasping for more superstition but I want to test some of my thoughts. Also, I am kind of hoping that someone can just shut me down with proof that the game does not favor any moment over the other so that I can rest easy and not try to dig for too much. Feedback please.
