Hi there!
Planning to run this game. Bitterblack Isle (Any%) Category looks pretty fun and challenging: not too short, not too long. It has only few runs and the WR is 3 years-old. Don't know if it can be optimized further, but I guess some newer strats from base Any% are viable in this category too.
Main Question: is there a Category where you need to defeat Daimon Awakened Form too?
Thx!
Hey there!
Any major difference between JP and NTSC on Any% Emulator?
Thnx
Glad it was helpful to you Glitched! I really appreciate it! Hope you will join the grinding on this gem of a game! It should definitely be: PSP/PSTV + PS2 since the difference is minimal, then have two other Categories respectively USA and JAP emulation. Also, it would be fun to have some kind of "meme categories" like "Reach the complete the Turbo Trolley Quest as fast as possibile" or "All Minigames". The game has so much content that there's room to a lot of fun categories! But it's up to the mods I guess.
So, I finally analyzed and timed all the Top 10 runs on the leaderboard and this is what I got.
To keep the leaderboard skill-based, fair and the competition alive I think it's time to make some changes to the Categories.
The more precise thing to do would be to re-time runs without time loads (or at least without the main ones: Area Loads and Warps), but that would take a lot of extra work for each new submit.
The smartest thing to do imho is to split the leaderboard in two and have a PS2/PSP/PSTV Category and PS1 one. You can also split it into three and having the JAP version separated from the USA one (but I think emulator runners will always prefer the fastest one).
Obsolete runs from players who switched to a more "enhanced" version of the game should be re-integrated into the new Leaderboards.
I think that having more than one Category is more fun, and would allow player to chase a PB in every single one them.
Let me know what you think. I hope this can be helpful to the community!
@dgamepather Thank you for the reply! So it's about loadtimes. Good to know. I thought there was some kind of skip/trick you can't perform on console!
Hi there!
I'm interested in Any% Beginner on Xbox (Series S). Is the game faster on PC? Is there any major timesave you can't perform on Xbox, or the console Category simply hasn't been grinded enough yet?
Thx!
Thanks for the kind reply UI_Jess!
I tried the game both on OpenEmu (mupen64plus) and Sixtyforce. It seems stable on both (maybe a little more smooth on the first, and the textures look little bit better on the second, but I'm not an expert).
Didn't think about the Dreamcast version, I'll check that out. I'm trying to avoid the PS1 version because it's a lot less polished and fun imho.
Also, thank you for the input overlays!
Hi there! I just started running this game (N64 version) and I'm unsure to which Category should I submit my runs.
Unfortunately, I'm on Mac (I know...) and the only working N64-emulators are OpenEmu (mupen64plus core) or Sixtyforce, but I don't know if the rules are ok with these. Also, I don't seem to find a way to display my input on macOS.
My other option would be playing it on a modded Wii. Does this fall under the N64 Category or the N64 EMU one?
Thank you for the help!
Rocket Slime have a japanese "prequel" for GBA that looks pretty cool. This game doesn't even have a Leaderboard on this site.
Is anyone from this community interested in running it? I think that if we start learning the game as a group would be a lot of fun!
Hi there! I'm willing to start running this game, probably starting from NG+ category (cause is shorter). Is there a guide on how and where perform the glitches for the run?
Thanks!
I've found this video: by altabiscuit but, is there a more detailed guide on how to perform the glitches and how they work?
Thanks!
