Could be it's a pc glitch only. I actually first played this game on the pc, but I don't have it anymore to confirm.
I'll also give it a try in the SNES
In the Genesis version, isn't it faster to rescue the mad doctor mickey instead of fighting the boss? Or do you still have to fight it even if you get the mickey?
I do think there were third party snes controllers with turbo, but still, it is as you said, you can't save any time in Olympic games, it is basically fixed as long as you are in the lead.
I vote to allow it. Don't think it affects anywhere else on the run too and it might make this game more welcoming to run.
We could add rules for turbo controllers on the Olympic games. I doubt anyone would mind. It is just numb button mashing anyway.
So, I think I found the reason for the level warps that the run uses, it is actually a cleverly disguised way to prevent bugs and pass Sega quality control. So they are not actually warps, but any bug you trigger will pretend it is a warp. That means that if you can create a bug, like sprite limit, in any level and in any place, you can probably skip any level. The video bellow has a possible list of bugs the community can try.
Tha explains why YellowKillerBee once said she could not find the warp anymore in the ghost level, she triggered a bug once but was never able to replicate it.
Also, if anyone is interested, here is the youtube of the programmer, where he has footage of a unreleased Mickey 2:
Well, looks like at least the new categories were added. Thanks to whoever did it! As for runs I think yes, it is mostly inactive. Good time to start learning then!
For sure! I knew the GBA was a little bit easier, but I did not imagine it was so different. With that in mind, I do think we should have 3 categories:
- SNES/PC
- GB/GBC/GBP
- GBA
As they are pretty different games. And each should have the 3 difficulties (not sure if the GB ones have 3 difficulties). How can we ask the mod to add it?
Then I guess the ones that demand to be finished, will have to be finished =P
As for difficulties, that is usually the standard. People like to have the options, even if sometimes it does not make much sense.
And for the 100%, the only thing would really be the stars. I think just collecting them is enough, no need to complete the bonus level, just enter it.
Hi Everyone! Wanted to start learning how to speedrun this game and have a very beginner's question. I know the snes version is missing a level, but it also has some load times that the genesis doesn't. With that in mind, how is that the Genesis is, according to the times, the shorter version? Does the load times really make up for the missing levels?
And would't it be better to be two separate categories since the games are somewhat different?
Thanks a lot!
What about retroarch? I mean, Bizhawk uses the same cores for snes and genesis as the ones available in Retroarch and Bizhawk is even supporting Retroarch cores now. Why not simply talk about cores used instead of emulators? That way we separate the emu FrontEnd from the actual core doing the emulation.
