The barbarian has now been added - I think I may have forgotten a few when entering the variables... Congrats!
I'm itching to rename Secret Boss as well but I'd also like to keep "compatibility" with previous patches, where Mega Death used to actually be a sort of secret. In that way, Throne% is not really appropriate. I'm still gonna try to rename it to fit the new requirement better as suggested.
As for new categories, I'm not sure how to deal with them - I feel like a new category should probably have at least two completed runs before it actually gets on leaderboards or we'll be flooded with new, empty categories (we've already had a few suggestions on the Discord). I say, be the change you want to be and submit a Pain% on the Discord and if people are interested, we'll add the challenge to the board officially!
Thank you for submitting. In the future, please include in-game sound in your VOD and use a different recording software that is less intrusive to the video feed. As of now there are no rules concerning stuff on the screen considering the size of our board but know that there might be later.
You can use "OBS", it's free and doesn't put a huge banner on your recorded videos :)
Not sure about calling it rat skip but congrats on the time. Cheers mate.
You can also upload this video as your "normal run", as it's a PB :)
Appreciate you running on this board - as was said on the forum post, we're moving the "standard" for a normal run to F11. Feel free to post with that new requirement, plus I'm gonna add the new characters to the list as soon as I have some spare time.
Cheers mate
Hey all,
Having now seen a bit of the new update, I'm thinking that there needs to be a bit of an overhaul - mostly regarding floor 11.
My thinking here is that floor 11 should now be the new "normal" run category, as it is to my knowledge accessible fairly easily from a new savefile ; beating regular death at floor 10 is now kinda like beating regular Mom in Isaac's Depths, which is to say not enough for a "full" run.
Unless there's a good reason to stay as is (and i'm open to discussing it in this thread), the "Normal Run Glitchless" category should now need to go to floor 11, not 10 as was previously the case. I know there's a run pending for that (I'm sorry Wayne), and for now i'm gonna keep the floor 10 run until we can agree on it changing and just not accept further runs.
Cheers everyone and happy new year.
Yeah this has been bothering me as well, and it mainly came down to the early days, when I also felt like IGT would be easier than RTA because asking people to use LiveSplit or some other form of timing was a barrier of entry (as tiny as it may be), and my thinking was that I wanted as many people as possible trying this out.
Now that pausing has gotten out of hand, I'd also be more in favour of RTA as our main way of timing runs, as it is more exciting (never been much of a fan of pausing myself tbh).
Don't know about older runs and how this may impact them, or even if we should re-time them with RTA. My thinking is, the first step is to put RTA and IGT times in new runs, and use RTA as the "official" times.
Are you using a 120Hz+ monitor? The game's engine struggles when the refresh rate is too high, and objects (such as mobs, saws and lasers) speed up to match the monitors refresh rate.
This makes some hell levels borderline impossible and could also be the source of your particular problem. If that's the case, just set your monitor's refresh rate to 60Hz whenever you play the game.
Never expected to see a non-compass run get sub-8 but here we are! Well played :)
Very good run, great RNG and good use of the IGT pauses. I don't see how any% gets much lower than that. Congrats! :)
Hello everyone,
I've been thinking about the new cinder system, and I feel like 99% of runs are gonna fall into two major categories, being cinder 0 and 16. Given that fact, it appears we should probably drop the "cinder" column and just make another category alltogether.
This is gonna split the boards even more, but we could consider merging some of the old minor patches (0.1.8b-0.1.8c comes to mind) for which no major new strat or balance buffs were present.
I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about this proposition (and especially those considering running cinder 16).
My best wishes to y'all for 2023.
Congrats on the PB! It seems Gunslinger can get it done, though his path to victory feels less streamlined.
Welcome to the community! Note that the In Game Time (IGT) is used so you don't necessarily need to have splits and RTA. This also means that load times, NPC dialogues and pauses do not count towards your final time.
Pretty much agree with everything said above. It might also be a good addition to put a column with the character used, similar to how some games add columns for console used, F3 use in the case of minecraft, etc.
Sorcerer doppelganger is clearly the ultimate form for the last two patches. It's a shame you have to wait for the right day to run it - I feel like the way doppelganger functions should be reworked (and maybe be in a separate category in the long run?).
Seriously. If you get good early RNG, you can skip so many fight rooms with the added events, blacksmiths & Co. I just had an 11:13 (one second off PB) with this and I feel like it has great potential
