I know that I am new to speedrunning but I've got some ideas for some additional types of runs.
-
Adding Hong Kong (Contestants only) and Hong Kong (Dark Tooth) to the set of individual level runs due to the fact they have distinct passwords.)
-
Adding Character Randomizer Runs: Where you change characters each level.
Easy: Four characters
Medium/Hard: Eight or nine characters depending on whether or not Honk Kong is split by passwords
I would suggest using the randomize on the character select screen (R1 on console) to show the order the characters will be used before the run begins
- Single Level Runs using every Character.
For the LA map: Twelve character (default characters), Thirteen characters (Sweet Tooth), Fourteen characters (Minion)
For the other maps: Twelve character runs (Sweet Tooth and Minion do not have level codes.)
Feel free to change an label I give.
I would like to hear about the plausibility of theses ideas and whether or not they could be reasonably implemented.

The following video is a proof of concept for a 12 character single level run. (Los Angeles, Easy).
This run only uses the initially available characters.
The time stated for the run is from first character selection to last congratulations screen.
The reference times for this run: first character selection 0:10, last congratulations screen 49:23.
The times listed above are to the nearest completed second.
If these kinds of runs are implemented feel free to adjust the run length according to an agreed upon criteria.

The following video is a proof of concept for a character randomiser run (Easy, 4 characters).
This run uses in order: Outlaw 2, Grasshopper, Twister, Mr Grimm.
The characters were selected using the random character option (R1 on console) four times and using them in the order they were selected.
The reference times for this run are 0:34 and 18:12.
Times above are to the nearest completed second.
If these runs are implemented feel free to adjust run length according to an agreed upon criteria.
