Adding on to this, are runs on everdrive allowed? I live in Australia and don't want to buy all the jpn stuff :/
Abitalive was working on a practice rom, you can download the beta versions here: https://drive.google.com/a/vt.edu/folderview?id=0B1g_ALmgbOzxd0V1M0VydnljWEU&usp=sharing#list . They have pretty much all the essential gameshark codes built in, see here for more details: http://pastebin.com/qUKYy1Bc
For the record, I use this for practice myself and have no issues with it.
Also, It has never been officially addressed, but I would assume that using an everdrive to do runs wouldn't be considered legitimate. Luckily the jp carts are relatively cheap.
I don't see how anyone could actually verify if a run was done on an ever drive vs an official cart, considering its the exact same rom running on the exact same hardware. It would be 100% indistinguishable.
I Think that there are some problems in the textures that can be different to a original sm64 cart. PD: I Dont Know so i think is that.
I almost exclusively use my ever drive to play N64 these days, and I've never noticed any differences in games vs the real cart.
The only real difference will come with needing to save/reset warp in games, since the ED64 can only reset to its menu, and not the loaded rom, so that does add time, but for games that don't do that, and start their time on file selection/new game, like all of them should anyways, it's a good alternative to the increasing costs of some of these games.
We would like to announce that VC and EMU subcategories are now active on the Stage RTA leaderboards (under "Levels"). Stage RTA involves collecting all the stars in a given stage including the 100 coin star. Timing starts on star select and ends upon collecting the final star. You are allowed to us
