Finally! Figured out an OoB route for getting the red keycard early. I highly suggest others experiment with this because I was starting to go a little insane after doing it over and over again for 4 hours to get repeatable strats.
Based on some testing, I required a lower framerate to do the 'quick' OoB drop-in. So, now, I have a full OoB route that should be faster than the normal route. Enjoy!
Nice find and work, but what's the point of getting red keycard early? Don't you still need to come back and get the Snake Key in order to pick the blue key card?
You currently travel to the basement 3 times.
- Fight Jack 2 (chainsaw).
- Get Snake key out of corpse.
- Get red keycard.
You skip #3 using this OoB. #1 and #3 become the same thing. The room to get the red keycard is blocked by the Snake door in grandma's bedroom. So, after getting the Snake key, you gotta leave the basement, go up to the second floor, go into the staircase in grandma's room, get the keycard, and come back up to the first floor again.
I've got an OoB route now that gets the crank and the red keycard early. The crank should help get the Crow key earlier once you are in Marguerite's area. I don't have that all tested out, but it would be great if a current speedrunner could test it. Also, this requires 60 FPS unlike the previous route. If you try it at 30, you'll go way too far. 30 delays the area load too much. Meaning, this strat should be console safe also.
yea I know the route, but getting this oob takes much more time then juste go to the basement once you get the Snake key right?
EDIT : just saw your update with the Crank, looks really strong. Crank early mgiht save A LOT of time. Thanks a lot man

I can grab the grenade launcher early, this can help on madhouse purpose i guess (fighthing boss) IMO this is the only possible use of this glitch at the moment.

Getting the red key card will not trigger the video tape in lucas's test room. So you will be stuck again. (I've tried to get the grenade launcher and respawn under grandmad bedroom)

Also, not getting the red key card and just unlocking the door to exit (for dissection room) will also softlock the game at video tape level.

This is also true for the crank and/or the scorpion key. If you don't get the scorpion key with the crank after the first bridge is up, Marguerite will not show up when you put the scorpion key and perhaps you will not be able to get the light(lantern) ...

Did someone know the meaning on the "secret" lower room indicating the 4 numbers ? I've tried to use it at the digipass without success. maybe a dev testing...
Did someone want the grenade launcher method ? (precise pattern for map loading) On normal, the whole thing take around 1,30m if well executed and can save lot of time on Jack chainsaw and Marguerite P2

getting in oob the left arm after the lantern door will trigger the animated sequence and put Ethan into the creepy little room. So you will be stuck becauce the traps is closed

the Travis fridge will not be operable without the eagle puzzle (already stated, just confirmed here)

getting to the blue card room (last shadow puzzle) will not be activable. (i'm not sure of what is activating this switch, but anyway you will lock the lucas tape if you get the blue keycard before getting through the normal way(snake key)

jack chainsaw seems to be immunated to fire grenade launcher. (Perhaps, 1 starting neuro round can earn you one boss "red head" before he's getting the chainsaw.

You can grab the chainsaw in OOB but you will relocated on the room(locked)

The old house door is not openable if you don't answer the call

You can trigger the grandma bedroom 10:15 in OOB but this is useless.

You can go in the garden and unlock the back door from behind. But marguerite will not show up after. (P2)

You can respawn in lucas test room (lots of place) but the code will not work.

The notes on deadbody for the digipass will not be readable without getting the video tape before.
In a "best setup", you can certainly :
- get the grenade launcher -- In the same process/layer grab the old clock stuff in the entry hall.
- respawn at oob's entry location (still oob)
- get the scorpion key (+ unlock the door in the basement)
- open the red hand friged and samatha fridge.
Several location can help to re-enter the game once in oob. but too large to enumerate and useless atm.
but combining all of these is hard as the texture (and wall) displaying is some sort of performance randomization. The oob process himself seems to be working on the stair because
- this on a stairs (mid stairs)
- there is a gap between internal and external wall.(with not hard texture on the external wall)
- Jack grab you and put you back.
for what i get guess, the next quest will be locked.
For example : Assume you go the the last room before fighting Jack final boss AND you get the arm AND the head in your inventory AND you've watched the last room tape before using a last time the crank. You still will be blocked because you have not completing the previous objectives....
Combining these informations, I've tried to get oob in : first stairs, with breakable wall or later with others monsters on the same stair in the entry hall. (when you come back from the snake key), nothing worked.

I've notify than Jack when he's "dead faking" in the entry hall, will move you from some pixel when he wake up. I guess this can be useful to bring jack where we want and try to oob in another place. But the baker house seems pretty "quest locked"

For MadHouse, getting the grenade launcher OR collecting dirty coin for a quick magnum is still interesting.
Hope someone will find another oob later in the game. (Maybe with remote bomb, ladders, etc?)
I will try some things this evening to see if we can still triger events even with an early crank/red keycard
EDIT : I have tried multiple things, early crank LOOKS impossible.
At this point, it simply might make the most sense to use CheatEngine and simply observe how the game 'flags' things as complete. Because, it still amazes me that the exact order of those flags matter. The only reason I could see programming it that way is to combat speedrunners. Because, to any normal player, they'll never sit a situation where they would do something out of order. It almost seems like a bug that the player could ¤potentially¤ softlock their game. I'm just saying... it is quite strange.
I just think that they made it to be able to controll the progression of the player in the game. I mean, first time you go to the dissection room for the red head, the room is different then the second time you go there to get snake key. As they needed to controll that, it would have been quite stupid (I mean, when you are coding the game), to only check progression for dissection rooms. +, this allows them to get easy clear and smart checkpoints emplacement in the game.
Quick update, still trying stuff on my side.
... Still nothing exploitable.... the whole thing seems to be really runners proof...
My last attempts was dedicated to trigger the teleportation on the boat map after mia/zoe choice. Trigger is not yet enabled as expected.
There is still hope anyway because sometimes with a good vertical positionning you're still oob but you can trigger event as the game consider you're in the good room. Stairs seems to be the key (for oob) and for up:down positionning. The good news is : i still found new route in oob, so maybe 1 day we can route all the baker house in oob until jack chainsaw fight who put you back in a normal state. (when playing the animation) I was able (1time only) to put lion head in the door when i was oob but this one seems to be pixel perfect. This is also true for gaining the dissection room key from inside the fridge without opening the 2 other fridge.
The key indicator for the game to consider you're on the good room (mid level) is to see enemies being triggered by our presence. If this is the case, triggers at your level will be operable. So in a pixel perfect up/down positionning you should be able to complete baker house almost in free cam.
I will focus on the third part game now with lucas testing room. You need to watch the VHS tape to enable this zone.
As this level is more horizontal than baker house and has possibility to manage up:down positionning, getting oob can help to go trough wall and still trigger event as the digipass, the battery and the elevator.(>animation so going to normal state).
We should try to go oob in the first stairs of lucas's testing room. Trying with explosives maybe ? I'm confident of finding other OOB, as show by the mines OOB posted earlier, others should be possible.
The game is only 2 week old ...
@Nofix It's the same because Difficulty only change monsters and bosses damage/health/reaction time. Trigger event is a whole different thing
Triger chain is different, for exemple scorpion key isn't located at the same place, so I guess there is no trigger for it as it's in a box. In my opinion, tiggers in madhouse are different then in easy/normal. I think it's worth a try.
I fiddled around with the triggers on Madhouse a little bit, but not too extensively. the dissection key puzzle seems to be triggered by obtaining the Scorpion Key rather than solving the shadow puzzle.
I also went OOB to the testing area and could not watch the Lucas tape or trigger the elevator fight after inserting the battery, so the triggers on Madhouse are likely the same as Easy/Normal for those parts.
I also could not grab the Red Dog Head without first obtaining the dissection room key which I believe is the same as Easy/Normal.
As far as I can tell, the only difference I noticed was the trigger for the dissection room key puzzle.
I tried two runs in Madhouse that involved me getting the scorpion key to force Jack to spawn then using that to get OoB, then grabbing the red keycard and playing through to Lucas. Then again but rather than grabbing the red keycard I just opened the door to that room. After getting to the TV it just didn't work, game is locked down hard.

Idk if this is the same in MH mode(should be), but for the red key card. The TV is not working even if you didn't take the key and just unlock the door.
But, the video will work IF
- You unlock grandma bedroom
- Activate the clock's for undertrap access. (so doing all the normal stuff) The video will not work IF
- You take red key card before the two step above.
So this mean you can unlock the door in basement without taking the card, but the lucas video will be only playable if you trigger the two snake door and grandma bedroom.
Again, this is not a game saving strategy ... you only skip one visit in the basement but you take more time to go oob than rather doing the official way.
