Guide to Speedrunning Niche - A Genetics Survival Game

di Welcome to speedrunning Niche!
In this guide, we will discuss general tips and tricks to assist you in all categories of speedruns.
- The first and foremost tip is to familiarize yourself with the rules for each particular category, as well as the requirements for the videos you submit. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to any of the moderators!
- If you're reading this, you are likely already an experienced player at the game. Many experienced players develop certain gameplay habits that while beneficial for a casual playthrough, are ultimately detrimental when it comes to speedrunning. While performing your speedruns, it is important to remember that your primary goal is speedrunning, and not the long-term survival of your pack. As such, keep to a minimum activities such as gathering food and breeding if they are ultimately not necessary. Many experienced players (including myself) fall into the trap of defaulting to a "casual" playthrough during a speedrun, as the game mechanically lends itself naturally to a slower-paced survival game.
- Know the optimal island routes (route to Home Island) and always keep moving. If nothing else, this tip alone will save you the most amount of time. For those unfamiliar with the fastest way to travel to Home Island, refer to the "Fastest Way to Reach Home Island" guide explaining details on how to get there quickly.
- Getting a great time on a run takes quite a bit of luck and a lot of failed trials. Know that your first speedrun will likely not be your best time, as luck greatly affects how runs are played out in this game. Don't be discouraged from failed runs, as statistically, they are a lot more common than not (especially for the "Homecoming" Category). Over the course of multiple attempts, you'll eventually get a feel for what makes/breaks a run in regards to luck.
- Most importantly, have fun! :)
